Hi I'm going to WDW in sept and my first day there is going to be labor day (5th).
Being British I haven't a clue what its all about. Will the parks be really busy this day?
We don't arrive til the afternoon but were planning to make a stop a magic kingdom in the evening would this be a bad idea? Will it be packed?
I'm so confused! :confused3

Labor Day is a 3 day weekend holiday and typically the parks are busier on 3 day weekends (families will make the drive from all around being they have an extra day to make it home). Chances are the parks will be busier all 3 days due to the holiday. You will probably be ok to go the night you get there, just be prepared to wait 10-20 minutes longer for most things. Make sure you pack your patience when you come. Hope this helps.

It will be crowded. Labor Day traditionally is the last Summer Fling here in America.

Schools start earlier now down in the South but with three days it is the last time people can take their children anywhere until Thanksgiving.

Thanks that's eased my worries! :)
I forgot to post this on my first bit but I'm also goin to be there on the days which have the nights of joy, although I'm not goin myself. How do these events affect the parks?

ps.sorry to be a pain!

actually arriving on labor day is a great time because so many are leaving to get back home and get ready for school. Labor day evening should be great. We will be arriving in the early afternoon and plan to hit MK ASAP! From one UK guy to another, have fun!

Of course my UK is the big one.........University of Kentucky! ;)

Night of Joy is a big concert event where they bring in a bunch of Christian groups. Normally the parks will close early and they will only allow guests in that have purchased Night of Joy tickets. Its looks like they will be open til 8:30 on the 6th and 7th of September, then til 10 on the 8th, and closing early @ 6 on the 9th and 10th which are probably the Night of Joy nights. This event is only @ Magic Kingdom so the rest of the parks should run @ their regular schedules.

If you are arriving on the 5th, don't worry about a thing. Everyone will be leaving on that day. The American Labor Day is when we get an extra day off to "celebrate" the fruits of our labor. It's the first Monday of September so we get that day off. Whoo hoo! But most of us will either be traveling back home or barbequing somewhere. The Saturday and Sunday before the 5th will be crowded, though. You'll miss all that.

I too will be arriving at WDW on the 5th and will have the day to spend in the parks. The WDW Unofficial Guide lists the crowd level at 4 which is the lowest level shown in any time period (the whole week is a 4). Lots of folks travel on the last day of a 3 day weekend so I believe we will be fine. Look for DW and me in the MK on the 5th too. We will be the ones with the biggest smiles!! :sunny:
