Labor Day Weekend DISers: TOMORROW!!! (UPDATED)

9 days out for us -- single digits baby!! Going to the 1st MNSSHP, and it will be our first one. Haven't told the kids, so it'll be a great surprise! Also haven't told them we're doing a Wishes Cruise -- the secrets are SO hard to keep! We're arriving August 30th and staying at POP until September 10th. 12 days of the Mouse - I can hardly think of anything else!

We arrive at WL on the 2nd to the 7th. I haven't been to the lodge since 2001. I am so excited for this trip!!! I have already started packing!! I told dh he has to wear what is left in his closet, the rest is in the suitcase, LOL!! I hope crowds are on the low side,I know it won't be super crazy busy like peak times.

Jumping in here, as we also leave in 9 days! This will be our first trip and I keep thinking about all the things I should be doing!

YES!! We'll be at the 1st MNSSHP & it will be the 1st time we have done it - we're really looking forward to it.

I also wanted to say that this will be our 4th year of Free Dining, and we go over Labor Day weekend & the following week every year. Back in 2005 the crowds were nonexistant, it was so dead it was almost creepy! 2006 was a little higher attendance but really still not busy at all.

Last year I noticed a marked increase in crowds -- I still wouldn't call it "busy" compared to other times we've gone (even January was busier) but definitely more people around. I think we were in MGM on Labor Day last year (or was it the day before?) and the streets were difficult to navigate with a stroller but the wait times were still minimal, many walk-ons, and the crowds dropped sharply the following week. I did notice last year there were a lot less "Magical Moment" certificate opportunities and it seemed like less one-on-one CM interaction due to the higher crowds. Again, it was nowhere near crowded, just more people in the streets & restaurants than in prior years.

I'm hoping that this year attendance will be back down. With the rise in gas/airfare/general cost of living prices, I'd imagine there are less people vacationing in general. Last year the Pirate & Princess Party seemed to draw a lot of people, as did the Magical Beginnings program with the Little Ones EMH's and the Playhouse Disney concerts - those are all gone this year. Of course with the earlier MNSSHP, who knows?!

I'm also hoping the weather will be a factor - in 2005 there was a big tropical storm sitting just off the coast during our trip and so many people cancelled their vacations, the parks were really empty. We were the only people at the Pocohontas show and got a private showing, they brought the animals down off the stage for us to look at and touch and it was really neat. Long story short (oops too late!) I'm hoping the bad weather will keep people away. The storms can also help cool down those hot hot days making it nice and cloudy which is another plus! Just as long as the storms don't actually hit, I think it's a great time to go to WDW.

8 DAYS!! Woohoooo!!! I love that I have only one more week of work until we GO!! Next Friday at this time I'll be jumping out of my skin, ready to leave the next morning bright & early!

Also at POP, also on the 30th!!! I can't wait! DS has been watching that old commercial with the 2 kids "I'm too excited to sleep," on YouTube 10x/day everyday. That will be us on Friday night!

Relief at the Pump for Florida Residents at Walt Disney World
Each week through Labor Day, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort will choose a guest to receive a gas rebate of $1 per mile roundtrip. If that guest is driving a hybrid, he will also receive free valet parking.

Probably rare that it will be one if us but.... good luck anyways LOL!

I just watched the Today Show and Al said Hurricane (whatever name) is over Cuba and headed for the Gulf. By Sunday it's supposed to be in the Gulf so hopefully it will just keep trekking toward the left and not loop back around to the right! Keep your fingers crossed!
