I have planned to be in the parks September 4, 5, 6. We were trying to avoid the 3rd (labor day) because of crowds, but now I am hearing that DL might be closing early on the 6th for a cast party. I am considering doing the 3, 4, and 5th now instead. What would you do? Do you think the crowds will be really heavy for labor day? If they do close for a cast party, will it be just a section, or the whole park?? I just don't know what to do.. :confused3

We've done Labor day for several years, adn usually, Labor day itself is not that busy. Most people use it as a travel home day.

Keep in mind that September 2 is the Disneyland Half Marathon and racers and their families might want to hang around an extra day to enjoy the parks. I know I will.

I'm also visiting over the Labor day weekend, so I hope you are correct :goodvibes

We are going the same week, so I'll offer my opinion since you asked. We were planning to start in the parks on Tuesday to avoid the crowds. I decided to drive down earlier and spend Monday afternoon/evening in DL. One reason is that a couple of the refurbs start on Tuesday (Casey Jr and Canal Boats, we have a train loving kid). Another reason is the additional day to catch the night time shows. F!, Fireworks, and others don't run during the week. So if you are going Tues -Thurs you will miss those entirely, in case that matters to you.

We're staying until Saturday and I had Thurs as a non-park day. But if it had to be a park day I'd probably just plan to hop over to DCA at 5:00 and catch WOC, not a big deal. I think Mon in DL for the shows will be relatively crowded (meaning more than T/W crowds but less than July crowds) but I also think Thurs night at DCA could get crowded. It does sound, from the other thread, like DL will close at 5 but DCA will stay open.

If I were you I'd base my decision on interest in nighttime shows and flexibility of your travel schedule.

Thanks. I am not really worried about the shows. We will probably see the fireworks from our hotel on arrival night. I guess I will stick to my original plans, and just hop to DCA at 5. Or maybe just go to dinner in DTD.

Make reservations for Ralph Brennan's, they have dueling pianos that night(thursdays) from 9 on and apparently it's a good time for all ages. The food is supposed to be very good as well! :thumbsup2
