We are taking a limo tour of LA, hitting some of the highlights, Hollywood, Rodeo Drive, Sunset strip, Mulholland Drive, Walk of fame, Santa Monica Pier. Are there any other places we should see? It is myself and DD 12, DS 6 so I am trying to keep it to things they will enjoy. Maybe spending some time on the pier. Also where is a good place to go for lunch, that is not your typical chain places, that is cheaper but offers good food? Thanks!

A couple other places kids enjoy are the Griffith Park Observatory and the La Brea Tar Pits. Both are close by Hollywood. (The recent fire has limited access to the Observatory, however. Check out their website for the latest info.)

Rodeo Drive probably won't be particularly interesting to them. No harm in driving down it, but if you'd like to stop and shop somewhere, check out either the Grove (also near Hollywood) or the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

For a good, fun lunch place, you might try Mel's Drive-In. You will be by two different locations -- one on the Sunset Strip (which is the better choice), the other near Hollywood & Highland.

Enjoy your trip!

I agree. The grove is an excellent choice. Lots of trendy shopping for the 12YO (plus American Girl store if she's willing to admit she's still a little girl :rotfl2: ) plus cheap eats at the Farmers market (which is connected) or you could do Cheesecake factory. The Grove is your best bet for celeb sitings in L.A. BTW, so keep your eyes peeled! Or you could do 3rd street (in Santa Monica) for a more 'urban' but similar experience.

Does 6YO like trains or horses? Nor particularly amazing, but there is a very tiny (like, around in a circle) horse ride in griffith park, and some trains (a mini to ride, plus some IRL to crawl through). If you're from somewhere rural these are probably not a big deal....but being city folk my girls think a 2 second horse ride is the bomb :rotfl: -- And not my favorite food, but there is a hotdog place inside a train car in W.Hollywood and Studio City.
