La Nouba seating question

I'm usually a front-row kind of person for performances, plays, etc. I like to be able to see everything as clear as I can, and my vision sucks as it is, so closer is almost always better. The exception is when there is a lot of action going on above my viewing angle, so I'd have to bend my neck to see everything, like sitting front row at the movies.

For La Nouba, I was eyeballing the front row seats, but I see they have a 'golden circle' 5 rows back from the front. I assume these are the best in the house, and I'm wondering why they're so far back. Am I right that it's because of acrobatics, stunts, and other activities going on in a big area? If you had the choice, would you rather sit in the golden circle than the front row?

Also, purchasing online doesn't allow me to specify exact seats, it just assigns me numbers after picking a category. If I call to order, can I pick my seats?

Thanks!

We sat in the front row. I wish we'd been 5 rows back.

The stage is raised, so if you sit in the first row, you have to look up and it's difficult to see the stage floor. You'll be able to see everything better if you are up a few rows.

I called and was able to pick my seats. She asked for an idea of what I was looking for and gave me a few options.

You'll love the show. Have a great time!

We sat in the first row, section A. It was okay but I would have preferred to be a little further back. You are really close to the action and the performers are just a few feet away. You can see the expressions on their faces. But it was hard to take in the whole scene. It seemed like I was constantly turning my head to see all the different things that were going on. And the stunt with the bikes was a little scary. The performers rode the bikes right to the edge and it looked like they might hit us. But all in all, those seats were better than being too far back would have been.

The best seats at La Nouba, as well as any Cirque show, are in the second level. 203-205 are the best. Much of the show is up haigh, as well as on the walkway between lower and upper level. If seated in the lower level, your neck will be aching by the end of the show, or, in lieu of a sore neck, you will miss much of the show.

A search of La Nouba here on the board will confirm those thoughts.

We were in about row F or G. Also note that if you're in the front row or close to the ends of the row, you might get pulled into the action. So if you're at all "camera shy" go with farther back and in the middle.

I find the front row too close and you have to crane your neck to see properly. But at 6-7 rows back you don't have to bend too much to see but you can see everything really clearly. You can even see amazing muscle definition on the acrobats. Very impressive!

BTW, if you haven't see La Nouba you're in for a treat. DH generally hates this kind of thing but I talked him into it a few years ago (well, actually I just bought tickets and told him he was going). He raved about it to friends afterwards, bought the DVD and asked to go back again last year and still thought it was amazing (it was slightly different than the previous time). Next time we go back we'll probably try to fit it in again. When it's over, it's hard to believe that you've been sitting there that long because you're just transfixed throughout.

I just bought tickets on-line that were in the area I wanted and it came up the first time with a location I didn't like. I cancelled, waiting a few minutes, did it again, liked the seats and completed the purchase. If you have trouble getting what you like doing that or want something specific, calling probably will get what you want.
