La Hacienda questions

My parents just booked a last minute trip for next week. ADR's were limited of course, but La Hacienda had several times open. A few questions:

-Is it indoor seating? I know they will not want to eat outdoors because of the heat.

-Is the food generally spicy (hot spicy)? If so, will they prepare it without the hot spicyness if they request it?

Thanks!

We ate there in March and had a really nice meal. Yes it is indoor seating. It has incredible views of WS lagoon. I didn't find the food overly spicy. They even brought our daughter out some really mild salsa for her chips.

We had a nice time there in January. I don't remember any of it being very spicy at all.

This place was wonderful on our Christmas/New Years trip. We loved the view over the lagoon, we actually booked to be able to see fantasmic while eating there, it was neat! The food was not spicy and Im sure if they dont want spicy food at all, they can ask what to choose to avoid it. We are vegetarians and they had a menu for us, I was so happy about that there :thumbsup2

Yes, it is indoor seating. Don't count on a view, not all tables are in the room that looks out over the lagoon. We didn't find the food to be all that spicy, maybe a 3 or 4 on a scale of 1-10. Flavorful but not a lot of heat with the exception of the hotter salsa - that had a pretty good kick to it.

Thank you for the replies!!

My parents will be fine with or without a view. They are very grateful to get an ADR anywhere halfway decent with only a weeks notice!

How fun that you can see Fantasmic from the restaurant!!

They will likely get the seafood mixed grill. They do NOT like spicy (hot) food at all and my mom tends to get physically sick if she eats anything hot/spicy. Not hospital sick-but uncomfortable sick. I will let her know to steer clear of the salsa & possibly let the waitress know just in case.

I am just wondering how you can see Fantasmic from a restaurant in Epcot? :lmao:

I think you mean illuminations, the nighttime show at Epcot. :thumbsup2

Stick your neck up as high as it will go. That should get it:laughing:

:lmao: My bad, was in a hurry, yes most defiently meant to say Illuminations. Would be sweet to watch Fantasmic from a restaurant too though!

I can tell you the food was super spicy and DH and I love spicy things but this was just way too hot to handle.

The shrimp tacos would have been perfect without the sauce they put on them...the pork mole same thing.

If we go back again I am telling them to put sauce on the side.

The other thing that bothered us was how dried out everything was, like it was sitting under a heat lamp forever. The rice and beans and especially the queso fundito, that was a lump of greasy oily cheese

Its inside and the fodd is not spicy at all. I am not a spicy kind of girl. I thought the food was good but a little bland. Being from Chicago we have alot to choose from when it comes to Mexican. We had a 730pm reservation and had a great view for Illuminations at 9pm.

Inside and food can be spicy if you want it that way or order the right (wrong?) thing. What we had was not spicy (I don't do hardly any spice at all).

I really don't care for very spicy Mexican food...and I was able to eat several of the dishes OK. Hubby and I shared the meat platter for two...there were several things on that tray that were too spicy for me (sides...the meat was all spicy, but not too spicy. There was a corn-relish kind of veggie that was way too hot for me...first bite was fine, then 2nd bite just about bit me back! Which was fine with hubby, because then he got more food, lol.)

Looking forward to trying La Hacienda during our upcoming trip. I'm hoping the food has a little "kick" to it, but I don't want it to be so hot I cannot enjoy it.

:rotfl: That makes more sense!! I was reading that about Fantasmic thinking "wow, the restaurant must be angled so you can see a bit of the Fantasmic fireworks!"
