Kyle and Jess's Engagement Free Dining Report! Pics Galore...UPDATE: OCT. 27th

I apologize for the delay I was having some issues with my external hard drive in turn wasnt able to upload my pictures. But not to worry they are safe and on with the reviews!

So today we slept in after a long day 1. We arrived at Magic Kingdom and were pleased to see that the wait times were nonexistent. Although there were no lines the weather was very hot. We managed to do most of the rides in the first few hours before stopping for lunch at Pecos Bills. During our travels we thought it was smart to stop use a couple snack credits on power aids. I believe the only had two choices; fruit punch or mountain berry…we both went with mountain berry.

After two happy trips to Cosmic Rays in the past we decided to try Pecos Bills after reading the rave, continuously on the boards.

Pecos Bills is HUGE first off! Walking by the place you would think it was just a small little room but trust me this place is very large and you shouldn’t have a problem finding seating. We looked over the menu and finally picked a double cheese burger (me) and taco Salad (Jess). For our dessert we picked yogurts.

Both meals were good but not great. The toppings bar at Pecos Bills is nice and had some different offerings but overall Id stick with Cosmic Rays for quality, quantity, and selection.

After lunch we continued to walk on rides and before we knew it we had done the entire park before 5:00pm. We discussed our options and figured we might as well head to DTD to walk around a bit before our dinner ADR’s at Raglan Road.

We got to DTD and walked around a bit and noticed a happy hour sign outside of Raglan Road. How could we walk by without stopping in for a couple beers?

We found two seats at the bar (the outside bar) and ordered a couple tuchers. For those of you not familiar with this beer it’s a German Hefe Weiss beer that is served with an orange. Those of you that like blue moon will probably enjoy a tucher.

1 Toucher turned into 3 all the while we met a very nice couple from Minnesota. We chatted and had a shot together before heading into dinner. Our bartender went to school in Massachusetts so we had a good time chatting and connecting with. He made arrangements for us to sit right in front of the stage a couple tables down from the other couple we met, all special touches he didn’t have to do.

For dinner we started off with a couple more beers…

Here is Jess’s Tucher:

For dinner:
Jess had Meatballs a la Liffey Luv:

For dessert we shared the Raspberry Riot:

As I’ve said previously this was the second time we had dinner here at Raglan Road and I still stand by that it’s the most underrated Restaurant on property. The food is comfort food and it’s done right. The foods very fresh, always moist, and has plenty of flavor. If you’re second guessing or need another restaurant during your stay we highly recommend Raglan Road.

Day 3 will take us to the Sunshine Seasons Food Fair and Coral Reef! Look for those reviews very soon!

Congratulations on your engagement! What a perfect location!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

I am enjoying your reviews and looking forward to more.:thumbsup2

I have to agree I love Raglan Road! I also love the beer selections - not a big beer drinker, but like a Smithwicks now and again. And my DH loves anywhere he can get a good Guinness draft!

Oooh, your meal looks like it was very good! I might have to try there sometime!

Enjoying your reviews. That's the first time I ever saw a picture of Kevin's Ham from RR. it looks delicious.
Congrats on your engagement, you are a cute couple. :goodvibes

:)Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!!:)

Great start to the review. The food all looks lovely especially if your really hungry or not. Can't wait for more

OK I'm very sorry and admit Ive been slacking. To make up for it this installment will be for days 3 and 4!

Day 3 took us to Epcot!

After a slow start (thanks to raglan road) we managed to get over to Epcot around 11am. We went immediately to Sorin to grab a fast pass so we wouldnt risk waiting in the only 30 minute plus line all week. After grabbing the fast passes we stopped at Sunshine Seasons for some Lunch.

Last year we also had lunch here and though we thought about trying another venue we were right there and said why not. The food is good and offers a great selection. The meals are pretty big and its one of the better values for Counter Service options we've seen. For those of you that like Dessert, this CS has a great bakery with all options qualifying for your dessert/snack on the DDP.

For Lunch Jess went with the Sweet and Sour Chicken and I went with a Half Chicken Meal. For desert Jess had the Strawberry Shortcake and I had the Apple Carmel Cake.

The food was just as good as last year and we love the variety they offer here. As you can see they give you a good amount of food and its a great alternative than a burger and fries.

We managed to get in all the rides we wanted to in the next 2-3 hours before heading into the world showcase. Once we were in the World Showcase we noticed something new: The Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure. We Loved it and thought it was a great addition even if it wasn't very challenging for adults.

It was very hot and we were semi hungry from walking around all afternoon. We still had a couple hours before our ADR's at Coral Reef so we stopped for a couple pretzels. We split one traditional and one cinnamon and sugar.

DSC_0142.jpg

After a very hot afternoon we were ready to sit down and enjoy a nice dinner at Coral Reef!

This was another must do Restaurant for us. Jess is a big animal person and for those of you that know Coral reef one entire wall is an Aquarium. The food isn't our favorite (we don't like seafood sadly) but the atmosphere in our opinion is hard to beat on or off property.

We arrived to a decent amount of people waiting. It was during free dinning and we expected to wait at most restaurants. This wasn't the case anywhere including here at Coral Reef where we requested to sit as close to the Tank as possible. I think there were a lot of people that didn't make ADR's prior to their trip cause we heard a lot of people looking for them throughout the week. After about 5 minutes we were escorted to a table right at the glass on the lowest level!

For Dinner though options are limited for non seafood eaters we knew from last year what was good.

To start they have some great bread with sea salt butter:

For dinner Jess went with the Grilled New York Strip Steak:

I went with Seared Chicken Breast:

Dessert Jess went with The Almond Gelato:

DSC_0148.jpg

I went with The Butterscotch Creme Brulee:

DSC_0147.jpg

Overall the quality of the food wasn't up to par with last year though it was still very good. Last year the NY Strip Steak was better in our opinion than Le Cellier's. This years piece was somewhat fatty and just not a great cut. The chicken was good but the quantity of the spaetzle was noticeably less in comparing to last years meal. The desserts were good and I think the Butterscotch Creme Brulee is one of the best on Property!

Up next is day 4 in which will feature two firsts for us. Staring Rolls for Lunch and Kona Cafe for Dinner!

At least it looks like they know what speatzle is...unlike what they put at the German kiosk at F&W...

...sorry, I'm a little bitter :snooty:

Onto Day 4!

Day 4 was suppose to be our Water Park day but after looking into how much it would cost we figured it was best to skip it. This actually worked out for the better cause we were able to head to Hollywood Studios and do some of the shows we haven't done on our last two trips!

We again slept in as we were taking this as a slow relaxing day. We got over to DHS at around 11am and we were straight over to Staring Rolls for lunch. Last year we went here for a snack and were blown away with the options. This year with a little research on the Disboards we heard that staring rolls serves up some amazing sandwiches for Lunch. As you all know DHS is extremely limited with options for CS locations so this was on our list to try out.

We arrived at around 11:30am and they still had all three options. The three change daily but we were offered Black Forrest Ham, Turkey Focaccia, and a Roast Beef Sandwich. You must get here early as they only make a limited number of them and when they are gone they don't make anymore for the day.

With the Sandwich you get Chips, a drink (fountain or bottle), and either dessert or fruit.

We went with 1 Turkey and 1 Ham; 2 bags of BBQ Chips; 2 Ice Teas; 2 Chocolate Chip Cookies!

DSC_0152.jpg

The sandwiches were Excellent and we highly recommend them. Again these were a great alternative to Pizza or burgers that you will find at most CS locations at DHS.

After watching a couple shows including the new American Idol experience we figured it would be nice to head to the Polynesian a little early for some drinks at one of our favorite bars on property: Tambu Lounge.

Round 1...I had a Back Scratch er and Jess had a Sunken Treasure (I think):

DSC_0248.jpg

Round 2...I had a Captains Mai Tai and Jess had some frozen Mango thing lol:

DSC_0249.jpg

From the lounge we went over to Kona Cafe for Dinner! This was our first time dinning at Kona and we were very excited having looked at the menu before we left.

Here is the bread with Macadam ion nut Butter (Very very good):

Jess wasn't feeling another drink for dinner but I went with a Red Rock Pale Ale:

DSC_0252.jpg

We went with an appetizer, sticky wings for two:

DSC_0254.jpg

For Dinner Jess went with Pomegranate BBQ Pork Chop:

DSC_0255.jpg

I went with Teriyaki Style New York Strip:

DSC_0256.jpg

For dessert they brought out a special one for our engagement:

DSC_0258.jpg

Jess had ordered the White Chocolate Cheesecake:

DSC_0259.jpg

I had ordered the Kona Kone:

DSC_0260.jpg

Overall our dinner was very very good. The food was very tasty and featured a lot of fruit flavors. The sticky wings are seriously to die for and I highly recommend spending the money out of pocket for them if on the DDP. For those of you wondering if they are the same as Ohana's they're not. They are made with different ingredients/spices. The dessert were all great and I loved the Kona Kone as it was a fun to create your own ice cream cone...kids would love it!

Well that does it for Day 4! I hope these will hold you over for a couple days as I will get Day 5 out by the end of the week! Day 5 features Boma Breakfast and Chef's de France Dinner!

Oooh, your meal looks like it was very good! I might have to try there sometime!

Yes, We highly recommend it!

Aw that stinks. Yes the speatzle is good at Coral Reef but as I said they served very little this time during free dinning.
