My DD did Kumon for about 9 months. I did not like it, as it was basically just worksheets every day. It was a fight to get her to do the worksheets daily. I thought there was too much emphasis on speed and perfection. I guess their system works for the average kid who just missed some basics, but DD has a documented deficit in her working memory that impacts her reading, so it really did nothing to help her. For a kid who already hated to do school work, adding 20-30 minutes more daily, with no direct instruction was torture. We have her at a private reading tutor who uses the Wilson Reading system and have already seen improvement.
