Krysten & Michael's DFTW - 9/9/10 - WP/Narcoossee's - 1 Year!! 09/09

So I have a couple of small things to post today.

First, I bought my crinoline today. One more thing crossed off of my list. I paid a little more than I wanted too, and it wasn't the exact style I had wanted, but the woman who helped me out was fantastic and I am happy with my choice.

Second, I have been thinking a lot about themes lately. I never really had a theme. I just knew that things were going to be purple, and we had cinderella's castle and coaches all over the place. However, the more I think about it, the more I would like a theme, but it seems a tad late to start a theme now. I really love the Victorian era, and we are getting married at a Victorian style place (GF) so I would like to perhaps incorporate this, but I don't really know how or whether I should. I am really hoping that my day looks beautiful and everything flows really well together, but I am not quite sure if it will. So I appreciate any suggestions about whether I should attempt a theme, if I really need one, or what kinds of things I could do to incorporate one. Thanks for your help!

I totally understand about the need/want for a theme. When I started planning on here (I don't think you were around for that) I had bounced around between so many different elaborate themes, since I really wanted an idea to work around. However, after totally abandoning a theme, I have to say it is a lot easier not trying to stick to one, and colour is easier to work with. I guess it really depends how much work you need to put into maintaining a theme (especially Victorian, since like you said, you already sort of have it).

Sorry if I confused you more....that was just my experience :goodvibes

It is so nice to have you always reading and commenting :goodvibes and I feel better after reading this. I don't think that I really need a theme specifically, I think it is making sure that everything flows together. Thanks again!

Hey, you've gotten so much done since I've been gone!! :) I agree with not necessarily needing a theme. I pretty much based everything on my colors, and it turned out nice, IMHO! ;)

Ohh you're back! I hope you had a great trip! I will be heading over to check out your TR lol Thanks for commenting on the theme. I think I will be okay without one, just had a little temporary freak out haha time is going by too fast and I am afraid of missing something. And I agree that yours turned out very nice!!:goodvibes

Hi!! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! The centrepiece idea was all my planners, so go ahead and steal away! It is getting really close now, kinda scared about all of the things I still have to do lol

Hi everyone!
I have been doing a lot of waiting lately, but I have a couple of updates. I am currently waiting to find out about what Narcoossee's will let us do with the tables, once I find this out, we will make our decision on centrepieces, but I think we will most likely stay with the new floral centrepieces.
I am also waiting to find out about our MK session date. It was originally scheduled for the day after our wedding, but my planner informed us that there would be trusses up that day so we would have to move it. But the next available day is the 12th, and the tux will have left for Canada by then (my dad is taking it home). So I have asked my planner if the day of our wedding would be available with no trusses. We will then decide what we want to do. I originally didn't want us to see each other before the wedding, but I don't want our MK pictures with trusses so this might be our only option. And on the plus side, it would mean that we wouldn't need a floral refresh or have hair and makeup done twice! Night of Joy this year falls on the 10th and 11th, so I am not quite sure how early they start setting up, but I hope we can have a day with no trusses!

In other news lol I received these in the mail the other day:

My wonderful floral planner sent this to me so I could see what the linens looked like in the flesh.

Here are some closer pictures:

I liked these for overlays, but we might just stick to house linens

This one is DF's favourite for the napkins:

I like the one that DF picked, but I really want to make sure that it matches. Like I had mentioned a few posts ago with the theme, I am really worried about things not matching. So any opinions you guys have on the colours and styles of linens are welcome!! The flowers in the centrepieces are going to be the same colour that is in the pictures if that helps.

Oh and one other thing, we received a gift on our honeymoon registry with a beautiful note from a family friend. I probably shouldn't have peeked, but I wanted to make sure that it was working because I heard so many things about it not working. So I guess it is working, yay!

One other thing happened today… my planners assistant e-mailed me to inform me that our minimum payment has been received!! So that means that the majority of the wedding is paid off!!! My mom has paid the entire payment to Disney so I thank her sooo much, but it feels wonderful to have it paid. :goodvibes

I think the eggplant is really nice. Do you have a swatch of the colors you're using? We did that when we picked out our linens and it made it really easy to find the right shade for the napkins.

Thanks for the tip! I have been meaning to put a bunch of stuff together, but haven't yet gotten around to it.

We aren't having a whole lot of decor, so I think that as long as the napkins match the table linen (which will be white) and the flowers, we should be okay.

whew finally caught up!!! You've had some great updates since I left for my wedding. First, CONGRATS on the double digit mark!!! Time will seriously fly by now...it did for me!

I really do like the new centerpieces that you posted. The 3 vases look really nice together! Your ADRs also look fantastic. We ate at 50s Prime Time for the first time when we were there and it was SO cool. The whole place has this amazing 50s home theme, it was awesome. And the food was great, too! I totally understand what you mean by wanting a theme, though. We initially didn't have one either...but then I sort of made the polka dot pattern a theme, which was really easy to do!! Patterns/colors can be their own theme, so if you have trouble with the Victorian one, you can always just make sure your colors are in every aspect of your day. :thumbsup2 With that, your color swatches are gorgeous...I love love love the purple :cutie:

the color is very pretty -very rich/deep:goodvibes

Thank you! :goodvibes

Thanks for the great comment Wendy! It must seem like a lot goes on around here when you leave for your wedding and are so incredibly busy! I have heard so many great things about the 50's Prime Time so I am sure that we will love it, but it is always great to hear more positive things. Reading about your experience at Citricos is making me want to eat there as well - but I can only try a few new restaurants each trip lol so that one will have to wait. I really liked what I have seen in your pj/tr with your colour theme so I have hope that we can make it work! Thanks again for reading!:goodvibes
