Okay, here's my first posting.

I joined (rejoined, as a Lifetime Member) Weight Watchers a week ago. I weighed in at 186 pounds. I want to get down to 145-150 pounds.

I decided to start with the Core program, which has been very do-able, except for some pangs at my niece's birthday party when I passed on the Strawberry Cheesecake (wah!).

I went yesterday and registered a loss of 3.8 pounds! It's off to a good start.

I'd really like to be showing some results by the time we get to Disney in 7 weeks, but I realise I have some longer way to go than that!

I'll post weekly to account for my results.

Thanks,

Kris

Hi Kristina:wave2:

Welcome to WISH journals. You will find lots of support hre. Congrats on the loss. Keep up the great work.
Beth

Hi Kris,
Welcome to WISH, the nicest people on the DIS!
I bet you can make a good dent in your weight loss with WW by the time your Disney trip comes up. Keep us informed, especially with any tips that work really well for you.
Onward and downward!
Jean:wave:

Thank you, everyone! I'm plugging along with a fair amount of enthusiasm, and feel good. Thanksgiving today, and I'm planning a large number of healthy veggie dishes to go with our meat, and I'm making a low-fat stuffing with WW bread and everything; I think we're going to be good!

I really appreciate the encouragement! I'll check in Wednesday for the weigh-in!

Love,

Kris

Happy Thanksgiving,

It sounds like you have the holiday under control. Enjoy the time with your family.
Beth

WW meeting today; I'm down another two pounds, for a total of six since I joined 3 weeks ago, and since joining WISH.

I got into my next size down in jeans, too, without a struggle at all, this morning.

I changed my clippie, I have my first sign of progress. Just under six weeks till we go to Florida, nearly 7 till we get to Disney. I want MORE off for those vacation pics!! Here's to ongoing virtue!

Thanks for the encouragement!

Kris

:cheer2: :cheer2: :thewave: :thewave: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Congratulations on getting your 5 pound clippie! You are doing awsome, especially with a holiday thrown in there. Keep up the great work, and you'll love your pictures from WDW.
Beth

Only the tiniest bit of progress this week in terms of numbers; I'm down .6 of a pound. Not exactly staggering; I'm going to have to be more conscientious this week.

On the plus side, I got another notch in on my belt!

Plugging along....

Kris

A loss is a loss is a loss!!:jumping1:

In other words, your still moving in the right direction! :teeth: Try drinking a little more water and increase the exercise. Even if you don't regularly exercise, park farther from the grocery store, go up and down the stairs at home 1 or 2 extra times a day.... Every step counts!

WISHing you the best!!:Pinkbounc

Hi Kristina,

Sharon is right. Any loss is a positive loss. Another notch on the belt also show that you are losing inches. Keep up the great work.
Beth

Thanks Sharon, thanks Beth!!

I do need to remind myself to get enough water down!

Wow, what a difference those meeting make! They really recharge your enthusiasm and determination. I've been SO good over the last two days. I should go twice a week!

I appreciate your responses!

Kris

Still moving down! I couldn't make it to my Wednesday morning meeting because of work, so I went Thursday evening.

I've lost another 2.6 pounds, for a total of nine so far. I was hoping to change my banner, but it looks like that will have to wait till Wednesday.

Assuming, of course, that my anniversary dinner on Monday night doesn't mess it up too much. I'm having Chinese food and not worrying about it, but I promise to eat until I'm SATISFIED and stop.

I am having the BEST salad right now, a wonderful Chinese salad with strawberries, mandarin oranges, and broccoli (along with lettuce and some toasted almonds). YUM!

It's getting easier to eat the CORE foods, and I've become addicted to daily pure-fruit smoothies (no milk or juice added, just some ice cubes). I feel pretty good, and I can see the difference in my body now, and feel it in my clothes. I didn't make it to the gym this week, but was on dayshift (10 hr shifts) and wouldn't leave the girls again once I got home. I'm going tomorrow afternoon, and to buy a new belt, too! I got out and moving three times last week - not staggering, but it was better than nothing, once to the gym, once out SKATING and once on a brisk walk with the kids and the dog. I'll definitely try to improve that this week.

Oh! And yes, I'm drinking lots of water!

Cheerfully,

Kris

WOW, Kris!! Did you say SKATING?!?! You go, girl! I would be in a cast, if I tried to skate. The pavement likes my skin too much to let me pass with taking a bite or two. :p ;)

How do you like the CORE program? I have been doing Flex Points for so long (just using info at home currently) but the CORE program intrigues me. Is it easier to follow? I would love to hear your thoughts on it! ::yes::

You are doing great! Onward and DOWNward you go! :hyper:

Thanks, Terry!

It was ice skating, and we were taking it slow, but man, did my feet hurt for the first while. I haven't done it for years; I took the kids out for Parent and Tot time. I'd be much too chicken to go inline skating on the road!!

I really do like CORE. I felt pretty restricted at first, but I've gotten used to it, and to finding options within it. It seems quite easy for me, but we seldom go out, and I'm not often tempted with cheesecake and the like. If you don't mind switching over to just healthy food, it's very liberating not to have to count points or measure portion sizes. I find FLEX is a headache. But FLEX does give you the option of wiggling in a few things. CORE gives you 35 points a WEEK, which is just 5 a day, and that disappears with ease (though actually, now that I'm used to it, I frequently don't use them).

There's no bread in CORE. That was an adjustment. For some reason, couscous is allowed. I don't get that, it's basically pasta. Teeny, tiny pasta. I guess it just doesn't taste as good as pasta, so it won't get abused. I eat a lot of oatmeal, all-fruit smoothies, and popcorn (yes, popcorn is allowed - I use spray-on butter, which actually tastes fine).

Last night was my anniversary, and we got Chinese food. I ate too much, and felt stuffed, but even within that cheat, I mainly ate the veggie dishes rather than load up on rice (I DID eat rice, probably a good 8 points worth). Of course, I still blew it hugely, because of all the frying and sauces, but we'll see how it goes. It was really the only way I could tell it was my anniversary. We didn't go out, the kids are sick, and DH and I weren't exchanging gifts this year (it's all going to the Disney trip, and AKL is our anniversary gift to each other!). So...I ate.

Tomorrow's weigh-in, and I don't think that one night is going to ruin it entirely. I'll let you know!

Love,

Kris

Hi Kristina,

Happy anniversary. I definately think AKL is a great belated present.

I'm sending :wizard: for weighin tomorrow. Push the water today.

Beth

:drinking: :drinking: :drinking: Drink lots of water, Kristina, and I bet you can flush away any Chinese food damage. :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: Your Anniversary only comes once a year so you deserve that treat - even if you have to have it at home, with sick kids. Of course, you will have to extend the celebration until your AKL visit! Fun! :hyper: We staying at the AKL in July 2003. Will you have a savannah view? The kids LOVED that!

Would you mind sharing the recipe for your all fruit smoothie? Maybe it will help with this sweet tooth I am suffering from! Thanks!

Sending additional :wizard: for a great weigh in!

Drinking like a fish (rather literally, I guess!)....

Terry, I don't know that I could even call my all-fruit smoothie a recipe...it's nothing, really. I take a banana, an orange, some strawberries (6-10 of them, maybe?) and anything else I have on hand, along with a few ice cubes, and liquify them. I like putting in pineapple, and kiwi. I used papaya this week, and that was nice. I use peaches and pears. If you use more than one banana it's much too thick and goopy. They're very sweet, naturally, but they're also nicely filling. I couldn't drink too much of it, I don't think.

I had a nice simple quick soup today for lunch when I was in a hurry. I had some leftover chicken from a roasted one, and I stripped it into a pot with some water, spooned in a bit of bouillon powder, threw in a bunch of cut up celery and carrots, then a few frozen mixed vegetables and some couscous. I added some Epicure spices (I love Epicure....it's a Canadian company, you can see them at Epicure.com - I don't sell it, I promise!), and voila, an absolutely point free lunch.

When I was having sweet tooth pangs on Sunday, I ate pickles. Killed the craving....

Good luck, it's all going to be worth it!

God bless,

Kris

P.S. Yes, we'll have a savannah view. I had temporary insanity and booked concierge for the sunrise savannah...I don't know how, but I got DH to go along with it. We have five sensible nights at POR, and then two nights of madness at AKL. I'm terribly excited about it.

LOL! *That's* why I recognize your name! I lurk on the Lounge Lizard thread!! My good friend Lynn (CanjunFan) posts over there. BT made a very nice clippie for you! ::yes::

I love that soup idea, Kris! Nice and easy. Just as easy as the smoothie recipe! :teeth: I can definitely handle recipes like that. Throw in some of this

Enjoy the AKL! That is a just a little bit of insanity. I hope you are able to do the Safari. We didn't do concierge for our trip. Too many people in our group, but I would *love* to try it! It sounds wonderful!!

Until tomorrow....
