Is this a place not to miss? I never have been. Your thoughts????

We really enjoy the Kona Cafe. We'll be eating dinner there tomorrow evening and lunch there on June16th.

I was not necessarily looking forward to it, but it was soooooo good. I am sad that I cannot fit it in on our next trip (my parents want Ohana instead). The food was GREAT! The only bad thing that I can say is that we waited FOREVER for a table. When we got there, we noticed a table for 2 open. And it stayed open. We were finally seated there 20 minutes later.

We enjoyed it. If you want a good meal without a show, characters, or any "frills", it's perfect.

Love, love, love Kona!:lovestruc
We will be eating there in 2 weeks!!:cool1: My faforite are the chicken wings and the beef teriyaki. So yummy! We have been there many times and have always had great food.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kona Cafe and have never had a bad meal there. In fact, it's a must do on every trip. The teriyaki steak and coconut crusted chicken is TO DIE FOR!!!!! :thumbsup2

If you're going for breakfast--

TONGA TOAST!!!!!

One of our servers told that one of the chefs tried to take Tonga Toast off the menu. It last about two months. There were a number of complaints and Tonga Toast is back on the menu.

I second the Coconut crusted chicken.
I am not a fan of coconut shavings, but I like the flavor, so this dish was perfect- just sauce. The chicken was SOOOOO moist I cut it with my fork...yum!!!

We dined there last week and thought it was one of the best meals of our vacation. Thankfully we were seated along a wall closer to the back of the restaurant. The tables near the hostess area sounded alot noisier because of the openness.

The ribeye steak was one of the best I've ever eaten & literally melted in my mouth. It was so tender that a steak knife wasn't necessary. DH ordered the Tuna Oscar and loved it too.

DH wasn't in the mood for dessert so the boys were thrilled that he ordered a Kona Cone and gave it to them.

We're very pleased that we added Kona to our ADRs!

Love Kona food!! We also like the openess of the restaurant, I will say though that the service is hit or miss. That of course doesn't stop us from going each trip:goodvibes

We ate at Kona on 5/28 and were very happy with our meals. 2 ordered the NY strip, and 2 ordered the Tuna Oscar. I had the Tuna and it was so good and a much larger portion than I expected.
They offered a Sand in Your Pants non-alcoholic drink w/ DDP and it was very tasty.Desserts sampled were the creme brulee and the coconut torte, both were very good.
Kona doesn't get a lot of hype, but it is good place to eat and w/ the monorail very easy access.

For us, it's all about the macadamia-nut butter

That aside, Kona is a good place to eat. We felt the food was well prepared and tasty. They were also quite helpful in seating us when we arrived 90 minutes early for our reservation.

If you haven't tried Kona, try it. If you don't LOVE it, then that's personal preference. I seriously doubt you'll HATE it, though.

Oh, the butter. We ate at Ohana the night after we ate at Kona, and my husband was tempted to go and ask for butter from Kona to eat with our bread. So yummy. :lovestruc
