Kona, Tusker House or Yak & Yeti for dinner?

It's hard to recommend for someone you don't know. Yak and Yeti is decent chinese food, so if your children enjoy that then it's a good choice. Tusker house is buffet style so they can pick what they want.

If nothing else, Disney always has the standard chicken nuggets, mac/cheese, pizza fair on the menu to fill in for less adventuresome children. My son has always shared or eaten of the adult menu, he actually begs for sauteed spinach!

Good luck and enjoy!

We had dinner at both Tusker House and Kona this August. This was our fourth visit to Kona and our first to Tusker House.

No question--Tusker House was much better for both food and service on this trip. We were disappointed in Kona this year as it seems both food and service are slipping there. TH was very good with enough variety for choosy or adventurous eaters to find something worthwhile.

I would certainly return to TH, but I'm sad to say I'm not so sure about Kona.

Kona: We all LOVED the food but we always find the service s..l..o..w..:snail:
Tusker House: We have only eaten breakfast (which we LOVED:lovestruc )
Yak & Yeti..worst meal we have ever eaten on property..Food was terrible... especially the kids meals. Both kids got the chicken nuggets and the were so thickly coated with batter and dry.. &the fries were so cold and hard they were like twigs!:scared: The service was just as bad...It is the one and only place that we will never try again!:sad2:

I can't comment on anything other than Yak and Yeti which I found seriously lacking.
I had a chicken dish, my Mom had the mahi-mahi...both were unimpressive. The fish was downright bland and the chicken was in a cloyingly sweet sauce that tasted like sugar and cornstarch. AK needs more TS restaurants!!!!

I agree that AK needs more choices!

yak & yeti is off our list. I have heard that its not great to bring my daughter who has diet restrictions.

So Tusker House or Kona are our choices :)

My DD20 and ate at the Yak and Yeti this last Sunday. I ordered the lettuce wrap appetizer, which I thought was *meh*, but my DD20 had the seared tuna appetizer, which she raved about. We both had the Chai tea which we thought was the best we'd ever had.

We've both also dined at the Kona Cafe on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed.

Yak and Yeti. Our DS loved the food there, he ate every bit of it, as did we, it was absolutely delicious.

Hi! So, Yak and Yeti off the list, our experience there was very bad. The theming was great though. I went to Tusker with extended family with dietary restrictions and if you make note of it when you make your ADRs, it will be noted and they will talk to you about what you can and can not have. I wonder if Kona being a sit down restaurant would find it easier to work with you than Tusker which is a buffet? It might depend on what sort of restrictions you have, in our group we had peanut, shellfish, and mushroom allergies and Tusker worked out fine. You might want to check out the menus on allearsnet and see which menu might offer you more choices. :)
