Kona Dinner menu change

I wish I had taken a pic of the lunch menu because that is all new too. THey have the Kona CLub and a teriyaki steak salad and some new chicken salad too. They also have a new BBQ pork lettuce wrap in bibb lettuce. We were trying to squeeze in a lunch but could not tear ourselves away from the pool

Thanks for the info !! Good to know that they still have our Kona club & salad.

I'm with you on the pool.. the Poly is so great we had to force ourselves to go to MK

Thanks for the pictures. There doesnt seem to be many noodles in there which is my favorite part. How sad! :(

The Bamboo steamed Ono sounds interesting..I hope someone shows up with some pictures soon. :goodvibes
Strange that they should take the Mahi off the menu, it seemed so popular.

I agree. Ono is a much better tasting fish, IMO. Ono means "delicious" in the Hawaiian language.

I can't believe they got rid of the crab cakes and the Kona chowder :sad1: We really enjoyed both of those last time.

I don't enjoy most fish, but ono is one we tried in Hawaii and is easily the best I've ever had. DH caught it on a fishing trip and we took it to a pre-scheduled barbeque at a local ranch where they cooked it on the spot. It is a very white fish, very tender, and not fishy tasting at all.

The crabcakes are still there. All the way up on the menu. I also thought they were gone the first time I looked.

Oh my, that noodle dish looks...nasty  . Thanks for posting it, I know what NOT to order  .

I agree with Hapi and Dawn; I much prefer Ono to Mahimahi. And I love that fish steamed, it retains more of the natural flavor of the fish than if you fry or bake it, or drench it in a heavy sauce. It's common practice here in the islands to prepare fish steamed with a light soy sauce. I think this will be a winner!

If that's the dinner menu, they sticky rice dish is gone too. I don't remember the name, but it was sticky rice in a wonton bowl w/veggies (and I'm sure you could get meat added). It was one of my favs.

I'm almost afraid to ask...they didn't mess with the deserts, did they?

No the desserts were the same :goodvibes

We had dinner at Kona a week ago tonight. I was surprised about the Mahi Mahi but actually preferred the original version over the soupier one that had been served for a year or two.

My son had the ono and practically inhaled it. My DH ordered the tuna medium rare. I have never tried it that way as I'm a total chicken about uncooked fish but it turns out that all fish at WDW is taken to the freezing point to kill bacteria but not stored that way. Parfreezing I guess.:goodvibes So I tried it. I loved the wasabi mustard. My DH said the tuna was not as good a piece as he's had at some places but he's pretty spoiled.;) He loved my pork chop.

I can't think of a restaurant we visited that didn't have a new menu. Lots of changes.

Hey, BCV23! We were there last Thursday night too! We were seated around 8:15 or so. Were you there at that time?

We loved the crab cakes and sticky wings. My DD and niece had the Pan Fried Noodles and loved them! My sister and niece split the coconut-almond chicken and said it was great. I had the shrimp and scallops - just OK. DH and DS had the filet and inhaled it. I'm sure I would have had the mahi-mahi but I didn't realize what I was missing since this was our first visit. It was on of our best meals.

BCV23 - which others restaurants did you visit that had a new menu? We're off to the Poly in a couple of weeks and I had set my heart on the Terriaki Beef - luckily that is still there ....

Now how did I miss that?? I'm glad the crabcakes are still there!! :)

So maybe Kona is worth another visit to try the new items, the ono sounds especially interesting.

Well, count me in as excited about the menu change! The pork belly sounds divine, as does the Tuna Oscar (I mean, how could you go wrong with fried green tomatoes? :) ). SO will be happy to see the chicken entree is still on the menu.

If someone decides to cancel a large table on Dec 11 based on the new menu please let me know :)

We had that menu a couple of months ago - and it was the best meal I had at WDW!!!

My DS had the Mahi Mahi on our last visit and loved it. She made me promise to go back next year. Now I have to tell her this. I hope she likes something else.
