Had a few bites of one last month (brother and sister-in-law both got it and were willing to share), and it was really good. The molasses-bacon butter added a very nice touch to it and probably made the dish. Definitely a different direction than teriyaki, but still quite tasty.
The new strip with molasses-bacon butter was excellent last Fall (brand new on the menu then). A wonderful surprise for first-time dining at Kona. Pair it with the banana creme brule for dessert. Wonderful stuff. I have now added Kona to my restaurant must list & am returning this Fall for the same entree. The atmosphere in the Poly lobby isn't the greatest. I asked for a table looking at the "garden view" toward the monorail & it was a big improvement. Enjoy!
That's interesting. The official Disney website (not the MDE version) also shows it on the lunch menu, but with the "new" one on the dinner menu. Maybe people with a past love for the teriyaki steak still have a chance to get at least some version of it at lunch. It is notably cheaper, so I'm not sure the lunch version is still a NY strip, but I'm guessing the flavors of the marinade are the same.
