Kona Cafe Gripe

Disney is really, really short staffed for all hourly positions. I think they laid off all the bus people too a while back so servers now have to bus their own tables (even in the nicer restaurants.)

I would much rather wait longer ahead of time than sit a the table and wait bc at least ahead of time I know how long I will wait usually. I had an experience where I went to a restaurant and waited 40 mins for the table which wasn't too bad. However, it took almost an hour and a half to get our entrees and only one person at our table ordered a salad and no apps were ordered. I had asked to see the manager bc our service was so bad. It took me 20 minutes to get her bc she was seating other guests, meanwhile all the other tables around me were yelling at there servers bc they had been there just as long as I had. That manager really should not have been seating that many people when people that were already seated had been there 2 hours already. I would rather them tell me ahead of time that I need to wait then have bad service at the table.

I have worked in the restaurant biz for 8 years, and I have done it all. I will ALWAYS maintain that the hosts have the most unplesant job in the whole place. EVERYONE yells at the hosts. The hungary guests are a nightmare, the servers yelling at you because you double sat them, the kitchen manager coming up and yelling at you because the kitchen is backed up, and the front of the house manager yelling at you because there is a wait. Everyone thinks it is such an easy job, but I am here to tell you that at a good restaurant, it is NOT easy. If you wern't being seated there was a reason. It could have been a number of things. Maybe they needed to keep rotation, maybe the kitchen was backed up, maybe those tables were being used for a party that had an ADR before you.

I know it can be frusterating when we go out to eat and we have to wait. I always wish that people would have a little perspective though before they start yelling at their server, host, manager at a restaurant. Nothing that goes wrong for a guest at a restaurant is an actual emergency (with the exception of maybe food allegy mistakes). There may have been a mistake made, but is it one that is really going to ruin your life? It is worth ruining the night of the server, host, or manager? I am not saying that complaints should not be made-if there is a problem the staff needs to know about it so we can make your dining experience a better one. I urge everyone to please be kind though, and take into consideration what is being done to accomadte you. Sometimes the staff can fix your problem immediatly (over cooked steak, order wasn't what you expected) But sometimes there is little that can be done (you are waiting a long time for you food, or to be seated). Rudeness happens often at my place of business, and it is really unwarranted.

I know that the OP wasn't rude (well, I am assuming this was not the case) I felt this was a decent place to vent though-and I am sorry for that! I hope that in the future the Kona Cafe can deal with this in a more efficent way.
