Kodak Easyshare Digital camera... help!

Now that we're talking about batteries.

1. Get only Ni-Mh battery with 2000mAh or higher for longer battery life.

2. Get multi-channel battery charger, that means the charger will accurately detect how much charge each battery need thus eliminating any possibility of under/over charging of each and every battery. With single channel charger, you basically have to used up ALL battery for optimum charge, even then it will be far from accurate.

3. Get a charger that has built-in voltage and temperature sensor so your rechargeable battery won't explode

4. Get the fastet charger available. Those US$ 10 "specials" usually take about 14 hours to charge four 2000mAh batteries.
The one I have at home only takes 3 hours.

I strongly recommend the unit I bought:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3061268194&category=294&rd=1

For only US$30 I get a 4-ch ultrafast charger, 12 AA Ni-Mh 2000mAh batteries.

When you use the card reader do you load the images right to you computer? I thought you could load them onto a cd and save them there, right? I still need to find the right charger and card reader. Any opinions?

I am checking out the card reader Gail talked about and the charger that Lewis mentioned. I suppose it matters what kind of battery your camera takes. We are getting the CoolPix 3100. I haven't received it yet. Impaitiently waiting;)

You will still need to bring the image to your PC, then from the PC you burn them onto a CD.

Ooops, forgot about floppies :teeth: I haven't used floppies in years because my images are usually about 2Mb or higher :smooth:

Your camera uses: Two AA Ni-MH batteries, One CR-V3 Lithium battery, or One ZR-6 Battery

The item that Lewis referred to is an EXCELLENT deal. They are exactly what your camera needs in for the batteries.

LOL, I would like to forget about them also, but, it is an alternative, but, not for your images. :)

I bought my Sandisk 256Mb CF from Costco for around US$50.

Good price. It is 49.46 plus tax at Sam's Club online. Bad part, only has one year warranty. I like the lifetime ones.

didn't read all 8 pages but just happened to be reading consumer reports today looking for a camera for daughter to take to hawaii...for 3 megapixels they rate fugifilm finepix3800 excellent pix quality first kodakeasy share dx4330 is 4 with very good pix quality the 6300 was good too, canon power shots not as good. good article on allears that has some links to reviews, think it was under the side bar for photography ...

wish I had seen it at target ,that was a great price!

www.consumerreports.org code 1106 for additional information

imo
stay away from Canon, i have a canon slr I love but their customer service is horrendous..$40 everytime you need to call for anything, they will not even talk to you till you put the $40.00 on a cc so no tech support what so ever...have a Canon printer that has not worked from day one and finally gave up trying to get it "adjusted" when the warrenty ran out and I had to pay for every call...same customer service for all their products. just way too much money to deal with when you have the inevitable problem.

Not defending Canon, but in my personal 12+ years experience using Canon products (printers, SLR, DSLR, PS, DPS) I have yet need to call tech support. I find that their manuals are clear enough to help troubleshoot any problem I have so far encountered.

The only complain I have about Canon is that their product tend to be more on the expensive side. :(

I wouldn't mind spending it if I knew they would be worth it and the digital is comparable to fuji in cost BUT
I just think their tech support stinks! I noticed others had the same gripe on one of the review links on allears and that is why I mentioned it...as far as the manuel goes, it is good but doesn't address my problem ( this is the second multipass, they took back the first one( after almost a full year of calls, about one a week.).. which would not allow us to use the internet while it was "on" as well as frequently just would not print(hello...what is the sense of having it as a giant paperweight???) ...and there is not an "on/off 'switch so that was a lot of fun and now this one will not receive a faxno matter what I do for some unexplainable reason no one at Canon seems to be able to figure out, just sends them! going to have to buy another printer and fax even though the total age of both printers is only 2 1/2 yrs cause I use it for business and they refused to even talk to me... even though we have had this same problem since I got #2 and it was never fixed... the day my warrrenty was over.) these aren't minor problems and so while I like their products *when* they *work* it is impossible to get them to trouble shoot/ fix should the need arise after your warrenty is over unless you have deep pockets &/or a money tree in the back yard. I think that is an important consideration and it would probably stop me from ever buying from them again just because problems can and often do happen

When your comparing digital cameras check out what accessories are included. Canon (generally) includes a rechargable battery and charger. With other brands you have to pay extra. Fuji uses a newer (more expensive) type of flash memory.

Yikes! It has been a week since I ordered my camera (Nikon CoolPix 3100) from Wells Digital. I have not received it. I can see my order on their web site and it says*pending*. I would just like to know when they will send it. Are they in stock? (it says on my order one ordered, one in stock). I have sent them 3 emails and called the 800# twice and left messages, but nothing! What can I do now? At the very least they should acknowledge my emails or something, right? What can I do now?

Sorry to sort of derail the thread, but I am a little upset that they have not responded to me at all!

Kimmie, has it been a week already? WOW, time flies. I would relax, it is the Christmas Season and they are probably dreadfully busy (not that that excuses your not hearing from them). What happens when you call the toll free number? It shows it as in stock. You did order it last Friday, so, depending on the time you ordered it, it may not have been processed until the next business day, which was Monday. It looks like they are closed on Sat, but open on Sunday. When you emailed them did you email customer service or sales? I know, a lot of quesitons, but, I am trying to cover all bases.

I can't believe it has been a week already either, Gail! I ordered on Friday December 5. I kind of thought with the weekend it would be Monday before they processed it. I did contact the customer service with two emails. Even went to my order and clicked on the link *email about this order*. I have called the 800# twice and left messages. I just wish they would respond in some way, ANY WAY! My order shows as *pending*, which is ok, but just let me know when it will ship. Any response would be better than nothing. I didn't know they are open on Sunday, maybe I will try to call them tomorrow. Instead of pressing #2 for customer service, I will press #1 for product info. What do you think? I am just a bit nervous. I was hoping to have the camera by this week so I can *play* with it before Christmas. lol

Before I would try product info, I would press for sales, that way you might get a human on the phone. Then you can explain the problem and perhaps get an answer. I feel bad that you are going through this. My thought is that they are extreamly busy because of the time of the season. Keep us updated, please.
