Hi,
Glad I could help, which one did you select, I think I recommended a couple of them.

Opps, never mind, having a "duh" moment. Good for you, I think you will like it a lot!!!!!

sorry if this has been asked, but does anybody have any personal reviews about HP Photosmart™ 3.2-Megapixel Digital Camera and Compact Photo Printer
Brand/Model: HP 735P145BUNDLE? Saw the whole package on circuitcity.com for $299.99
thanks in advance

Yes it is 3.14 MP, but be aware with the fact that this camera is NOT auto focus, it's FIXED focus. You'd be better of with a camera with less MP but Auto Focus.

Not to be terse or rude, but, in this case, you get what you pay for. It says it has auto focus, but, I am not sure if HP shoud be making cameras, better they stick to computers and printers.
It also uses those Secure Digital and MMC memory cards. Also, you cannot add lenses to it like you can with other cameras.
the printer only prints 4x6. There are much better printers out there that will print up to 8x10's with much better quality.

never thought about the lenses. The thing about the printer bothers me. I was looking mostly at the optical zoom and megapixels. Thanks for your input and quick response

Kimmie,

I think that you will love your Nikon. I have a Nikon Coolpix 4300 and it takes amazing pics. It is very easy to use, easy to download to the computer. Just to add, I also bought a Epson Stylus CX5200 printer/copier/scanner. It also is very easy to use and my pictures turn out WONDERFUL!!! I can't say enough about this printer. If you print alot of pics you will really use up the ink, but that is the same for any printer. I think the this printer runs around $150. I bought it at Staples. I will be purchasing more memory for my camera and an extra battery so that on vacation I will (hopefully) not run out of either. Good luck with your new purchase, I think you will be satisfied!!!

Thanks wdwmom2 I can't wait to get it! I will need to get more memory and Gail Hayden has a link on one of these pages to a site that has pretty good prices. I think its sterlingtek.com. I have learned so much from this thread and hope others can find answers too:D

I have a Kodak Easyshare DX4900. However, the battery gets drained in a couple of shots. What do I need to do? Isn't the docking station supposed to recharge the battery? How come even when the battery says it is fully charged and I still get the low battery sign in several shots? Thanks

Good Question... Gail.. Gail.. where are you? lol
Which battery is best for our cameras? Which type of memory card is best? What about the chargers? Any thoughts?

Do you have the owner's manual? Did you go to the FAQ's?
There is online support. http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/knowledgebase/index.jhtml?id=0.1.24&lc=en

Yes, the docking station recharges the batteries.

Gail, thanks for the reply. I did, both via the owner's manual and the on-line site. Nothing explains why my battery drains so quickly. I am trying to figure out if there is another battery somewhere I need to replace. Very confused and frustrated.

What happens if you use another charged battery? What type of battery are you using? Are they alkaline batteries? Are they rechargeable? I know, so many questions.

The one that I am using was bought to have extended life. I am going to replace it with the one that came with the camera and see what happens. Thanks

Yep, lots of them. For Compact Flash cards, I really love Sterlingtek, I like the lifetime guarantee. And, since that is what your camera uses, that is what is best. Get the biggest your camera will use and what you can afford. You can use, in your camera model,up to a 512mb card. Look into a card reader for your computer, saves battery life and is very reasonable. It is something that plugs into your USB port.

As to batteries, I don't see your listed on their website, but, they do have a toll free number:1-877-742-1700 Toll Free Call Us!

Phone Orders Welcome 9-5 M-F M.S.T.
I feel sure they can help you, just give them the model number.
Their prices on batteries are excellent, IMHO.

If not, look into the converter that allows you to use plain old NiMH rechargeable batteries. They are relatively inexpensive, and probably worth the cost of the converter overall.
They also sell chargers at a very reasonable price.

Hope this helps, let me know if I can help further. :)

sometimes batteries have what they call a memory. You really want the ones that are labeled memory free or no memory, etc.

Gail, you are amazing. How did you get to know all this, from the best rental car rate to digital camera!!!!!!!

BTW, I am still having a hard time finding a good deal for a rental car from 12/24-1/3, any tips?:D

Not amazing, just REALLY good at surfing the net and reading stuff (and I do mean stuff). Also, I managed a photo lab at WalMart, they train extensively, I even got a two weeks all paid trip to lovely Bentonville, Arkansas (studied my butt off too), I learned a lot. And, you also learn from the questions asked. I hate to give an "I don't know answer" to anyone ( I also hate getting one), so, I did research so I would have the answer.
As to the cars, try www.mousesavers.com for her codes. If you have BJ's, Sam's Club, Costco, etc. Check their websites for discounts and coupons. Also, try http://www.pcpages.com/rentalcodes or http://www.rentalcars.com

You are going at a VERY busy time, holidays are often blackout times for car rates. But, good luck, sometimes we get lucky.

Wow, what an excellent thread for those of us in the market for a digital but are very confused by it all.

Thank you all for your info. You can't imagine how much your helping us newbies. :earsgirl:

Just wanted to say that as someone who works in the digital camera industry, that I think the Kodak cameras are being underrated by Gail on these boards. IMHO, they take excellent quality digital photos and are great for those who want an easy to use camera for a good value. Their latest model, the DX6490, has a 10X optical zoom, 4 MP and also includes a chip called the Kodak Color Science image processing chip which was created with Texas Instruments (using Kodak algorithms) to help people take a great photo with very accurate colors.

When listening to a presentation on Kodak's history in digital photography, I was surprised to learn that they invented the first digital camera back in 1975. They have a long history with digital imaging and it shows in thier products.

Thanks.
