For those who go to DL a lot...do they often close down rides for Celebs? We were in the Pinnochio line last Friday, and we were just about to turn the corner for the last stretch of the line when we noticed Kobe Bryant and his daughter getting into one of the cars. He sorta waved to people, and got into the car and zipped off.

Once he was gone, they announced that they were closing the Pinnochio ride, and that we could turn around and exit the way we came in. It was sorta weird. I don't see why they couldn't have just let a few empty cars go and then start loading again.

Has anyone see this happen?

I've seen celebs there and no, they didn't shut down the rides down. I remember one time in particular Selma Blair was looking at her photo on Space Mtn, she had a guy and a plaid with her, they looked at the photo, laughed and then walked back up to ride Space, came back and looked at the photo and then they left, with the plaid trailing behind. It didn't stop the ride, we were waiting for our girls and they got off not long after she left.

that is soooo cool!! I wanna see a celeb at DLR!
Maybe it was just a coinsidence about the ride closing and him being on it...
I don't know.

We were there on Friday as well and did see him around the park and on one ride, but they didn't close the ride. Unfair they do that sometimes.

I remember last year Miley Cyrus was there. I was inquiring if priority seating for fireworks was avaialbe (like F! seating) and was told no but saw a roped off section and setup in a sweet viewing area. Upon asking what that was all about we were told Miley Cyrus and her party were in the park and they would be sitting there. I personally found that weird because it was right in the middle and she would have been SWAMPED! We wanted no part of that mob scene so we rode rides instead.

About 5 years ago (my son was an infant) we ate breakfast at Storytellers Cafe at Grand California Hotel. My family and I are seated at our table and the table next to us has actor Robert Patrick. Probably best known for playing the evil Terminator in Terminator 2 but he has played in multiple things most recently a series called The Unit. Anways he is with his family and I nudge my husband to show him who it is and he denies that its him. When he gets up with his child I glance at his butt and tell my husband oh yes that is him (he had a FABULOUS butt in T2 and had really tight jeans on that day). I was really nervous and didn't want to ask for an autograph or photo because #1. He was eating and most importantly #2. We was with his family. A little bit later a Disney castmember sat with them. When they finished their meal he went up to the counter met the chef guy, shook his hand, and left the restaurant with castmember in tow. I assume she was protection (how she is going to protect him I don't know). What kind of surprised me more is that he really wasn't getting people coming up to him or stares or anything. But it was him. I saw a picture of him in People magazine a week later at Disneyland.

Apparently for anyone who was at Disneyland last week Neil Patrick Harris and his partner were there. (as also photographed in People magazine) Darn! I missed him by a couple weeks.

Wow! sorry for the long reply.

I saw Geena Davis at DCA a few months ago. She and her family were getting on Mulholland Madness, but the ride was not stopped for them. I also saw Jorge Garcia (Hurley, from Lost) in the Tiki Room last summer. He and his family had a plaid escort, but sat right there with the rest of us non-celebrities .

oh come on we are all celebrities at Disneyland!!
so that's what they are called is plaid escorts? I thought that was their "protection" lol. Do they prevent people from asking for photos and autographs or something? Ensure that they don't have to wait in line?

Plaids are runners and yes they can be interference if necessary. Plaids main function is to make sure the celebs have a positive experience at the parks, they will do whatever is needed to ensure that happens. I want to be a plaid....LOL :)

I've never seen them close down a ride before... But in a recent update over at miceage they had pictures of Tom Staggs entering from the exit on Maliboomer! It would be nice not to have to wait in any lines! On the otherhand the line is half the fun somethines (eg.. Indy) :thumbsup2

DD (9) and I Have seen many celebs (Nicholas Cage, the girls from the disney movie cow belles - ashley & AJ ?) in our visits to DL. When we see a plaid weknow that they could be with a celeb and we try to figure out who.

DD was very excited because we once saw the guy who plays Andre from Victorious (Nick show). I think that is the characters name. He was nice when he noticed dd gawking (think mouth open and staring) and said hello to her.

We have never seen a ride shot down for a celeb before.

But... we have run into to Kobe Bryant in the park before. One of his securty people (not the plaid) was walking way in front of the group trying to clear a path. The ironic thing was she was causing more of a disturbance then need be and actually caused people to notice him. The crowd was not there because of him it just was a crowded day in the park and you know how those walkways can get on a busy day.

ha ha I wanna do that!

I'll have a friend of mine just start clearing a path like I'm somebody special lol

When they closed Pinnochio, someone who I swear was the actor Ronny Cox was right in front of me with what had to be his grandkids. He said "we're going to ride something else kids, okay?" and started heading back through the line. He looked right at me, and it dawned on me why he looked familiar, but he was out of there pretty quickly.

Last trip to Disneyland we saw Slash from Guns & Roses there with his family, walking through DTD, but really that's about the extent of my celeb-spotting.

About 15 years ago we were in line for the Jungle Cruise, and Arnold Schwartenzegar and wife Maria Shriver and their kids were let in through the exit and got onto their own boat, but they didn't close the ride. We also saw them later in the day riding on the Storybook Canal ride...also on their own boat.

Have never experienced that before. Usually they let the celeb ride up first, and just let them be on their way. Not close the ride.

IIRC, after the Laker's won the Championship he went to DLR and rode on Matterhorn with guests too.

ya know - if celebs didn't have a "plaid" walking with them everywhere - and if they dressed like a tourist and tried to fit in - most people wouldn't notice them at all and if they did they would say "that girl looks a little bit like Miley Cyrus" ....and go about there way:goodvibes

my husband is an antique dealer and we used to tease him at shows when celbs would walk into his booth in Farmington CT - Martha Stewart; Penny Marshall; and many many others - they would be dressed in jeans and a baseball cap and he had no idea! - even when he got a check from Penny Marshall once he didn't recognize her - we had to show him the name on the check to prove it to him...

That's what we do too! But I'm really bad at recognizing people so I usually can't tell who it is. If it's a bigger group with the plaid then i just figure it's people who signed up for the VIP tour and probably not a celebrity. I look for small groups walking around with plaids.

I am so bad at it too!! :rotfl: But its fun and we never go up to them - they need to enjoy Disneyland too.
