Anyone stayed there? Nice? Clean? Typical KOA?

We are travelling to Florida in June and we will drive to South Carolina on day one, from there to the KOA near Kennedy Space Center on day two. Tour the KSC on day three then drive to the Fort to check in. What can anyone tell me about the KOA there?

KOA = Keep on Addin. if you have a trailer, why not camp at the fort and drive to space center, it's not all that far.

I was thinking the same thing. That is what I would do.

In the past though we stayed at a Resort where you can own the lot but I cannot remember the name of it. It was just off i-95 on SR 50 I think. They use to rent the lots many years back when they just started. It was very nice but do not know if they still do that any longer.

We already have our reservations starting June 16, and we are meeting family coming down from Baltimore. We figured we would drive to near the Space Center on June 15 and spend the night, tour the KSC the next day and then drive to the Fort to check in.

The KOA you're booked at is not the best place to go camping. If you want to see KSC, here's another option:

This park is in Cape Canaveral, and while not the most "elite" park you will camp at, it is situated within walking distance of the beach and one of the best fishing piers on the east coast of Florida. Also, it is the place where a lot of cruise ships disembark from (including Disney cruises). From your campsite, you can watch the ships leave & return. It's really neat!

I would not recommend the KOA - but that is JMHO.

Thanks. After seeing the reviews posted elswhere and rading the suggestions/opinions of the folks here, I called WDW and added another night to the front of our reservation. So first night we will be in South Carolina, then on to the Fort.

You have to call Jetty Park to reserve. You can reserve 90 days before your arrival. We are staying there last week in March for Spring Break. I went and checked it out the last time I was at Cocoa Beach (10 minutes away) and it was nice. On the beach with a fishing pier nearby. HUGE playground area and yes the ship literally pass right in front of you. It's not the Fort but it is nice.

If you are a AAA member their website was pretty helpful in finding campsites in the area I was looking for. You can create a trip tik and under "Show" click on campgrounds. At least you know AAA has been there.

Good Luck and Happy Camping.
