Its actually spring green...kind of lime, actually....
Thanks! I think she looks like she has no legs, since she was wearing her navy sweatpants at the time....
Dd likes that shade of green, too...
I hadn't noticed the no leg thing until you mentioned it...

I think this is BS. They want me to go to this meeting with about 17 people from the school. I KNOW they are going to try to buly me into getting him into "special ed", and I am going to fight them tooth and nail. I had NO COMPLAINTS from his other teacher, just this new one...![]()
I know he has issues, I just hate the high-handed way they handle this stuff. i do NOT want him labeled, since this is a school district where the label will dog him. Also, they are talking about "Sensory issues", emotional delays, ADHD, autism spectrum, and anything else they can think of. They are overly zealous, adn will NOT get my child out of the G&T school where he belongs, behavior issues or not. he is at the TOP of his class academically.![]()
Ugh. I'd think the only way they could pull him from G&T is if they can show that he is interfering with other students' ability to learn. At least, that's pretty much how it was explained to us, tho that would be getting pulled from regular classes to the behavior class, which we really, really don't want to happen. (Which I think would also include going to a different school, but I digress).
Ds' teacher started a behavior program with him even before he got his IEP (a cost/response system, if you feel like looking into it). He's also been working with the school social worker on social skills since last spring, which has actually helped a lot - she's been wonderful with him. But, I know many schools will only give you services if you have an official label and an IEP.
At this point, if you don't want the label, but want services, you may need to do independent testing and services. If the school pays for the evaluation, they get to see the results - but if you pay for it, you control who sees the results. Oh, and I don't think the school is really allowed to "diagnose" any of those conditions - they can recommend getting an evaluation, but they aren't medical professionals.
I think ds' school is pretty unusual - but we were told (after asking if ds would be stigmatized by getting pulled out of class for various things), that EVERY SINGLE CHILD in his class is getting pulled for either help or enrichment at least once a week, and some are getting pulled 2-3 times a day! (For all I know, some kids are getting help in one area, and enrichment in another area.)
I will admit, we considered moving to a different town, which supposedly has a decent magnet school, but we were terrified that if he didn't get to do the magnet school, he'd be in a really horrible school, and they wouldn't have the resources to help him at all. (90% of that kindergarten class is ESL, among other things...)
Good luck...
