Know other DVCers?

I'm so discouraged today. I just found out that the only other DVCer I'd met moved 100 miles away. There's one other member I know, who comes to town sometimes to visit friends and family. Otherwise no one around here has even HEARD of DVC. With as many members as DVC has, you'd think it wouldn't be so rare around here. Just wondering, do other people know friends, neighbors who own DVC? All the fellow members I know I've met on the boards.

I don't know anybody else who owns DVC. It would be kind of cool to have another Disney nut friend. Sometimes I see people with the DVC car magnets or the Disney mickey eared families on the back of their car, and want to follow them to wherever they are going and then get out and say "Be friends with me I love Disney tooooooooo!" But that would probably just scare them, so i haven't done it.

Nope, but it's not as big on the west coast so it would seem strange to me to live by someone who did own.

I have a cousin who owns DVC but she lives in another state and thru these boards I know of a few other DVC'ers in my home state of MD but nobody close enough to me that I hang out with them. Some that I text with or PM with and some whom I'm friends with on FB. Like DisneyRegulars I sometimes see a car in traffic or in a parking lot with a DVC or AP magnet or with the "mouse family" decals and I am tempted to follow them. There is one light blue minivan in particular that I SEE EVERYWHERE that is DVC and "Disney'd out" and I wonder if she's ever seen me 'cuz my Pilot is all decked out with Disney and my sons college stuff on the back. I see it near my local shopping center and I saw it turning into a neighborhood down the road one time and I even saw it parked at the Express MVA office once!! She's everywhere I go but I have yet to get a close enough look at her that I could find her to talk to her. Seems I'm always following her. ONE DAY I will meet her somewhere!! It's bound to happen!!

Almost forgot, DH works with another member - we talk to them at work functions that we both attend.

We live in the UK so it is very rare! But I have a dear friend I meet through the disboards and they have recently joined! We love to talk DVC!

I'm from Europe too, Denmark to be more precise.

If you say the word timeshare, either people frown because most people here who knows about it believe it's scam because a lot of people lost a lot of money or they don't know what a timeshare is.

So imho I'm one of the very few owners from Denmark

My best friend bought into DVC when it opened and we stayed using their points. That sold us. It is great to have someone to talk about all the new stuff happening. We also have another friend who bought in. Could be because we talked about it so much. Two of their kids have bought in too. I also work with someone who owns. I love being able to talk Disney with people who understand.

Yes! We purchased DVC due to a long-running tech conference that ran for 20+ years at the Dolphin/Swan. At least a few of our conference friends are also DVC owners!

My husband works with someone who owns DVC. That's what finally got him to decide it would be a good thing for us and I'd been trying to get him to agree for 5 dang years. LOL

Other than that, we don't know of anyone who even goes to Disney as much as I do, let alone owns DVC. LOL

One of my oldest friends owns too. We lost touch and actually bumped into each other at Hollywood Studios in the washrooms by Rockin Roller Coadster. That was back in 2007. Been back in touch ever since. I've known her since we were 13. We talk about how we will go down to WDW when we are old to escape the winters.

I know 4 people who own DVC, all of whom I know outside of Disney circles. Two are from Science Fiction fandom, one is a swim mom and the other I know from college.

My boss owns dvc, although I didn't know that when I bought in. Another coworkers parents are dvc.

My best friend bought before I did. It's fun to go on trips together. We've been on family trips, adult trips and girls only trips.
My dermatologist bought DVC before it was built. He said he was staying off site in July with his wife and daughters and someone asked if they would be interested and he jumped on it. He still uses it but usually trades out to travel.
