know anything about "the art institute" schools?

I think they're 40 across the country. We are interested in the film/video production degree programs, and are looking specifically at SLC, Las Vegas, and Portland.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Don't know a whole lot, what I do know is that the "Art Institutes" are actually a conglomerate of a bunch of former art, fashion, cullinary, ect. institutes of higher learning. If your looking at specializing in Video/film they aren't a bad idea.

It seems your focus is on the west coast if this is indeed the case the best west coast film schools are

University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA)
University of Southern California (USC)
California Institute of the Arts (CalArts)
American Film Institute (AFI)

All in California

The "art institutes" are not fly by night schools most of them have been around a long time, they just banded together to form a network of schools across america reather then fully stand on their own. I'd check out thier web site for more info.

If you're looking into getting into film or the media arts, there's Flashpoint Academy in Chicago.

Thanks, we have done lots of research, and if we go to an academic institution it will be Montana state, where we can get a tuition break plus it is a great program. But having done research on the Art Institutes it seems so much more focused on my DD's actual intrests, and since you do get an accredited degree out of it, it seems like the best of both worlds. Also, especially the one in Portland, are located in vibrant downtown areas.

Another one that apparently has a fabulous reputation in that field is Ringling College in Sarasota, FL. My daughter was looking at that one for Photography.
