I have a name, general idea of location where he lived, and approx. year of death (in the late 1950's). Google search brought up nothing of any use.
It is just to satisfy my curiousity.
My late father's wife had supposedly been married before, but no one knew a name or any details. She shared very little with my dad even though they were married over 40 yrs. He didn't even know her middle name!
While cleaning out his house, I found an old insurance policy with a man's name on it and I think this may have been the previous husband.
Thanks for any help.

I am a member of ancestry.com if you want to pm me with the information I could look it up for you. They have access to the 1920 and 1930 census for the US. If you dont want to give out the information you could join for a month or they might even have a free trial. I have been searching my family tree and it is really interesting.

Here's a link to Roots Web social security death index. http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/

If he's listed in there, you should be able to get a date of birth, death, their last place of residence and the social security number. Best of all, it's free too.
