I went to Knott's for the Halloween Haunt on Friday, Sept. 30. My friends and I joke that no matter where we go that's not DL, it manages to follow us. Case in point, in August we took Amtrak to Santa Barbara and saw Monorail Orange in pieces in an industrial yard in Burbank. Well, this time not only did DL follow us, it pretty much slapped us in the face.

I hadn't been to Knott's for Halloween for 15 years, and it wasn't nearly as scary as I remembered it to be. It didn't seem like the roaming gouls were jumping out as much or as able to hide in the fog. The first thing we did was ride the Calico Mine Ride that had been turned into the Cavern of Lost Souls. It was pretty good. All the gouls save one were on the other side of the train. Next was the Log Ride, which had a werewolf/Little Red Riding Hood type theme. I thought that this was a bit scarier. Next was Silver Bullet followed by Xcellorator. My friend that I was with hadn't been on either coaster but enjoyed both. We followed that with Boomerange then some chicken strips.

Next up was a show called The Hanging--"The Happiest Hanging on Earth." This is where DL starts slapping us in the face. The set looks suspiciously like It's a Small World (only brown). At the beginning of the show there are what we refer to as Tinkerbell lights (like you see on the Castle at the beginning of the fireworks). Someone dressed like Tink flies overhead on a cable. They sing alternate versions of Disney songs. They spoof the fireworks and rides (along with a lot of other pop culture icons). Honestly, it was hilarious. There was a lot more, but in case anyone here is going, I don't want to completely give everything away. It's only because I love DL so much that I could take the jabs it got.

Next was a ride on Ghostrider. We followed it up with a show at the Birdcage Theater called Hacks, and again, DL followed us. Just before the show, a man came out to play keyboards and I recognized him as one of the keyboardists from the show DUH at DCA. I then wondered if any other people from DL would be there and.... they were. In fact, the whole cast are from DUH and/or Laughing Stock at DL. What's weirder, is two of them were performing in Laughing Stock at DL on Sat and one of them on Sunday also.

We followed this with a couple of mazes and with another ride each on Xcellorator and Silver Bullet. The park was then closed and we left having had a really good time.

I think they like to spoof Disney. Two years ago I took my son and the theme of The Hanging was Pirates.

A lot of Disney cast members work at Disney during the day and Knotts scary farm at night I did this for two years. The hanging is a crack up every year best part of the haunt I think.
