Knots Landing Reunion tonight.

They just barely mentioned Laura. Wasnt she considered a major character?

Laura died on the show, I don't know if she died in real life. They mentioned that they all got dressed up for a funeral and went to their produces home and taped for over 48 hours. They just sat and talked about Laura, some scenes were scripted, but they said most of it wasn't. They said it was a very grueling 48 hours.

I remember googling Laura (Constance McCannish), I think she did die of a brain tumor or something in MN.

According to the webite, deadoraliveinfo, Constance McCashin IS alive. She doesn't seem to have been in anything lately, though.

Constance is alive and well. However she is not too happy with the Knots Landing experience and has refused, so far, to be on any of these reunions. The character of Laura was killed off as a cost cutting measure. Knots had been on the air about 7 or 8 years when Laura was killed off and all the actors were making substantial money. The costs to make the show had skyrocketed, but since Knots was never the blockbuster that Dallas was, the ad revenue wasn't quite as high. In fact, the actors let them film their own cars and even their own homes in order to cut location costs to keep the show on the air, they loved it that much.

In order to cut costs, they killed off some characters and brought in new, cheaper actors. Constance wasn't very happy about this decision. She didn't want to leave the show, but had no choice. In fact, if you remember in the reunion on Friday when Greg was crying about 'Red' (what he called Laura) and they showed the TV in the background, Laura's image was fuzzed out. Honestly, I am not even sure that was Constance's voice that we heard. I don't know if that was the producers decision, or if Constance didn't want her image in any way on the show. It is pretty sad, when a beloved character like Laura isn't represented, but if you were angry at your employers and the whole experience, I guess that wins out. Kind of sad really. It would have been great to see her.

Wow SgtDisney, you know your Knotts. Have you ever thought of writting a book devoted to Knotts or Soaps in general?

I have never thought of writing a book, I have read a few. I have hosted a couple of different chat channels on MIRC devoted to Dallas and Knots Landing back when they were airing on cable tv (before their reign on soapnet.)

I thought I had heard a few years back that Ted Shackleford had died. I guess that was just a nasty rumour. I have come to relish reading about dallas and other soaps on the web.

I thought Michele Lee looked pretty good. Donna Mills looked fantastic! Joan Van Ark has had too much work done on her lips - she should have left them alone! So what....she has thin lips- at least they were her own.
I was another faithful watcher. I loved to hate Alec Baldwin!

Darn! I missed it!! And I really used to love that show.. :(

Maybe you all will appreciate this. When I was about 8 we visited my dad's cousin in Santa Fe. His wife also had a friend visiting: Constance McCashion. This was about 1984 so it was the height of Knots Landing. We had no idea who she was though. My parents certainly didn't watch that show. All the adults and my sister (who was 13) went to the opera and Constance sat in the back of our station wagon with my sister. We also all went out to dinner and people were whispering and looking at us. And I didn't even realize it. And you know the kicker. We don't even have any pictures of her. :rotfl:

I remember when we got home Knots Landing was on so we tuned in. The first person we saw was Abby and my mom thought it was her with a bunch of make-up on. :rotfl: We watched a little longer and finally realized who she was.

That is a cool story Beth76! It would have been cool to meet one of the stars at the height of the show. Too bad you didn't know who she was when you were with her! Funny story though.

I have to agree with the previous poster, I think they all looked pretty good. The have obviously aged, haven't we all, but they still look good. Donna looks like she hasn't changed at all. I don't know how she does that. I agree too, Joan's lips looked over worked, but I hear that Joan is pretty vain. Apparently she has a hand held mirror with Mona Lisa on it and she takes it everywhere.

SGTDisney, you seem to know what you are talking about, do you have some connection with Hollywood or are you just a rabid fan? :hourglass

No, sorry CosmicCharlie, no Hollywood connection. Just do a lot of research and reading on the subject. Did you ever watch Knots, Cosmic?

___No

I finally watched the reunion tape last night and couldn't believe how good Joan Van Ark looked!

I just checked out her age on IMDB and she is ***63*** !!! Yes, can you even believe it? I'm sure she's had *work* done but still, i thought she looked great.

Anyone see the '97 reunion show? Was it like this reunion or was it an actual acted continuation of the show? I was bummed i never got to see it.

.....AND...joan van ark has a 35 y/o daughter! Woah!

So....did anyone see the Knots reunion show in 1997?
