Knoebel's meet, 8/13 (now official!)

From the National Weather Service website:

Friday. Showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall. Becoming lighter and more scattered in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 70s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Becoming northwest.

The travel may not be great, but we may luck out. My ownly fear is the potential for flash floods tonight. You do know the park's history with flooding, right?

Is any one else having hard rains right now? I can't believe how dark it has gotten in the past hour, plus it is pouring like mad.

I'm out. SORRY! I really, really wanted to go and meet you all, but I just got off the phone with DD's friend and her mom and we agreed it's not worth the trip. I'd have to drive through the worst of the rain to get there, only to wonder if the rides will be open. I'm concerned that the creek will bill high and may flood the park. Do you know how mad I'll be if it turns out to be not such a bad day? Mickey88 - please send my apology to Barry. I hope you are able to enjoy the park.

If any of you want to try again in a weekend or two, let me know. When I decide which day I'll post a new thread. I'd like to sneak in a trip before school starts....I'll post a feeler thread in a bit - look for it if interested.

I am hanging in there for a few more hours, but it really doesn't look good. It calls for the heaviest rain here Friday morning (and we are about 45 minutes from the park). I don't know if this will be enough rain to flood the park, but possibly close it simply due to bad weather.

not sure what to think of the weather report at 7 AM,,calling for steady rains in the Am and then showers this afternoon..

yet they are only calling for 1/4 inch of rain...

time to get ready so I can be on the road by 8...

Missed you KarenB (and pooh67_68)! The weather played in our favor. I drove through some sprinkles, but nothing compared to the rain overnight. It stayed cloudy, but warmed up, warmer than expected.


Barry and Mickey88 (and family) - DD and I have loads of fun! Thanks for sharing the day. I'll send you a link to my pics.

after you left the sun actually came out and the sky was a beautiful blue with big puffy white clouds,

to bad other people didn't make it,

Sorry I missed all of you. I called Barry to let him know I would not be coming around 9am. It was very hard to hear him, but I hope he got the message. It got really dark and stormy looking here in the morning, then it ended up being an okay day afterall. (yes, I was then kicking myself for not heading over ) But I did get to talk to my MIL in the Fort Meyers area to make sure they made it through Charley, which I wouldn't have if I went.

Thanks Dan. Can you believe I used a $50 Vivitar Vivacam? The camera takes nice outdoor photos, but even though it has a flash, I can't take a decent indoor pic.

We had a great time meeting folks from the DIS, it was my first time meeting anyone. I look forward to another meet - perhaps another at Knoebels.
