Kitty sneezes?

I have a kitten, approx 8 months old, and she's sneezing a lot the last couple of days. One eye is weeping, too. She's had all her shots and is an indoor kitty, but does come in contact with our indoor/outdoor tomcat. She is acting pretty normal, chasing and playing and stalking birds through the windows. Is this just a "kitty cold" and give it a few days to resolve or do I call the vet?

Kittens can be prone to upper respiratory infections, it may be a good idea to have her checked out by a vet. Hopefully its just a cold, but better safe than sorry.

Has she been stressed? That often brings on an upper respiratory infection, if it's lying under the surface. It's not unusual, but if it continues you'll want to have it looked at.

Sometimes when cats sneeze a lot you can get some L-Lysine capsules 500mg and open and sprinkle on their food (if you use wet food) and it helps contain the sneezing. Herpes and upper Respiratory can flair up even if they've never had problems before.

It's a good idea to have her checked out. My cats go through sneezy phases for no apparent reason though. I'm sure she's fine.

You can also get the Lysine as a "treat" if you end up needing it. One of my cats had a skin reaction to a virus once, and now takes those to prevent it. They're kind of big, so I break them smaller (they're soft) - but she likes them.

It's very possible that kitty has allergies. To be safe, bring her to the vet. If it *is* something else, it's best to treat it as early as possible. But my cat has allergies and sneezes a lot, just like her mommy (me).

One of my cats has seasonal allergies and he will literally sneeze over 20 times in a row when he has boogers up there. And let me tell you, they are disgusting when they come out. I gag every time I have to clean one up and that is from someone who readily cleans up cat puke, hairballs, dog puke, and my kid's puke, poo, and will hold out my hand for him to spit something into it that he can't eat. Those boogers are NASTY and they get me every time!
