Kitty question #2- Does your cat do any "tricks"?

Henry has one skill that we get a chuckle out of. He loves the Pounce treats that come in the little round canisters. If we hold the canister low to the ground, Henry will stick his paw into the canister, scoop out his treat and put it directly into his mouth. :teeth:

Does your kitty have a special skill? :)

Littlefoot can say "Ma ma"

"Do you want a treat, Littlefoot? Who should get you a treat?" and she will say "Meow Ma" -- But it really sounds like Ma Ma -- it is the cutest thing.

She kneads her little feet while she does it.

I think I will go give her a treat right now.

That is too cute! Henry will also knead his front paws and get "blinky eyes" while waiting to get his treat. :)

If you call climbing me like I'm a tree when I'm getting his food ready a trick, then I guess Apollo does tricks. And the little bugger is getting too big for this. Sometimes when I'm getting his food ready I go to the counter that's in the corner so I can keen an eye on him better and mutter than I'm scared of the evil kitty. The kids like to watch the show and love it when he climbs me. Of course I start laughing, which doesn't help. :teeth: Some trick, huh. He also waits for us to go to bed and then gets on the counter and knocks anything down that we've left up there and then the dog opens it and eats it. They have a Dr Doolittle type relationship, I'm sure of it!

My aunts cat gives paw! I think he spent too much time with the dog.

My one cat will talk when you ask him "what", but that is about it. I am trying to teach him to sit but I'm not having any luck.

honey has 2 tricks she is my cat

1st one is when i do a real or fake sneeze she wll meow
2nd one is i put my hand out she goes up and down to be petted my friend who is in a wheel chair loves when she dose it

Maximus can magically wake me up every morning at 5AM.... is that a trick? Oh, and he's REAL good at climbing the fridge (naughty kitten)

almacdonald- I love the pictures of your pets. The one of the dog is hysterical and the kitty is just too cute!!

Our kitty before he got sick and lost him used to flush the toilet all the time.. it was so funny! If only we could have been able to teach him how to use the toilet before flushing it.

One of my cats, Dusty can turn off the lights. It's probably not so much a trick though. We have one of those laser pointers that he loves to chase. If we run the laser up the wall, he jumps after it. If we do it close to the light switch, he'll turn the light off when he jumps.

Simba will stand on his back legs to get his treats-he's done that since he was a kitten really cute. Pooh will do it too but Pooh swipes at the treat, Simba doesn't.

Simba will also jump into the air while chasing the shoelace mouse. I'm not talking about a little leap I'm talking about 3 feet in the air or higher. I have a picture of that I need to find.

Pooh will also fetch his crinkle ball. When you throw it down the hall he will chase it and will return with it. Simba will that occassionally with his poof.

Both our cats can 'sit up pretty' for treats (altho it's getting harder for Bessie with her arthritis; she still makes the effort tho!) Beulah also will shake hands on command. We also play Sammy Sosa with her. She'll get up on top of her kitty condo and we'll trhow sparkle balls or whiffle balls to her. She bats 90%+ of them out of the park!

My brother's cat would come when he whistled....but ONLY "Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?"

Wierd cat

Growing up, we trained all of our cats to come when we whistled a specific pattern - I think it was supposed to be a bird call. DH is "horrified" by the very idea of training a cat, so he doesn't want me to train Beatrice and Rosalind to do it. I have, however, taught the girls to follow me into the bedroom and jump up on our bed when I say "it's bedtime, babies!" It happened on accident - I had started brushing them at bedtime on our bed, and they LOVE to be brushed. Apparently I was saying "it's bedtime" as I walked to the bedroom each night, because one night I got up and said "it's bedtime, babies", and they both jumped up and followed me into the room, jumped on the bed, and then looked at me expectantly! :rotfl:

When Petey asks to go out and does his business he comes back in and gets a treat but first he has to sit nicely in front of the cupboard and say please with a little bark. Simon, having observed this ritual many times, one day sat right next to Petey and meowed on cue. He does that every time now.

Now, here's my question for all your pet parents: Have any of you been able to go to the bathroom alone since the day they were adopted? I finally banned them from the bathroom but every time I open the door to come back out there they are sitting there waiting for me. If they think I'm taking too long they'll scratch and cry for me. There is no secret escape hatch from the bathroom. I'll always come back out the same door I went in guys!

We have two cats that can play fetch.

They will fetch pretty much anything you throw under the size of a tennis ball. Toy mice, twist ties from bread and they love those little plastic things that you take off of the milk to open the top. Just throw it and they will bring it back in their mouth and drop it in front of you. My older kitty, if he drops it too far from my reach, I will hold out my hand and he will pick it up and put it in my hand.

Our younger cat will fetch too, but won't put it in my hand.

Funny thing, around Halloween, the cats got a hold of a bag of plastic spider rings and the were walking around the house with these big old black plastic spiders in their mouths.

Many of you have mentioned those plastic rings that come off the top of milk cartons. I'm surprised the milk companies haven't taken notice and started advertising a "two-for-one" deal. Get a free kitty toy with every purchase of our milk! :rotfl:

Oops! This was supposed to be posted under kitty question #1!

That is a great idea! On the little sticker advertising the free cat toy, they can put a picture of a white cat with black spots like a cow!

Trouble the Cat will do back flips if I am playing with her. It is too cool. I have this cat toy that has feathers on the end of a string. The string is attached to a wand. She will only play if I move it really quickle. If I move it the right way, she will do a back flip trying to get to it! Not that exciting, but it is really cool!

Whoever mentioned the bathroom - I am there with you. Trouble won't let me go to the bathroom alone. If I manage to shut the door before she gets in, she sits at the door and meows. I guess this is training for parenthood with human children.

Does anyone else's cat love hair bands? I am constantly finding my hair bands all over. Trouble the Cat loves to play with them and carry them around the house!
