Kitchenaid Mixer

I mainly bought mine for making s'more cupcakes, which I make pretty often. I burned out my hand held mixer making them, plus it ended up being quite an arm workout. Here's the recipe I use:

I also use it to shred cooked chicken breasts, and to make bread and pizza dough. I've always wanted the attachments, but I imagine they'd go unused most of the time.

Those that have the pasta attachment, how easy is it to use? I think I want it for Christmas, I just wish it made others besides spaghetti. I'd love a cavatelli attachment.

I have the pasta press and roller. I use the press all the time (at least once a week) for pasta and I find it really easy to use and clean. I hate the roller attachment for pasta because it always seems to break but it works wonderfully rolling and cutting fondant for cake decorating.

There are 2 different pasta attachments that you can buy. I have the pasta roller and also the pasta presses. The other attachment is I believe a press that you put the dough in and then press it out. That one I took back. The roller and press I love. I can't have wheat but can have spelt flour so make myself spelt noodles. Speggetti is so good when fresh and I love the noodles for lasagna. In fact I am going to a pot luck lunch on Sunday and am going to make homemade lasagna for it. I can't wait.

I do use my machine for a variety of other things. I love it.

Besides the normal baking and bread dough, several "unconventional" things we use our Pro 600 for is mixing meatloaf, the aforementioned mashed potatoes and shredding cooked chicken/pork for enchiladas and pulled pork (use the paddle blade on low, it shreds in no time at all).

Have fun with your new toy!

This is the best tip I've ever gotten!

I use mine for everything. Twice this morning in fact! I whipped the Marscapone and other ingredients for tiramisu and I also used it to mix my mashed sweet potatoes in.

I use it year round but it really gets a work out during the holidays.

I use mine mainly for baking (cakes, cookies, etc) and sometimes mashed potatoes. But most of the time, it is just easier to mix by hand. :)

How good is the pasta made with spelt?

I have one Dough Mixers 80 QT X-Large 3HP using from long time. I used it basically to produce a number of popular food items such as pita bread dough, pie dough, scones, and biscuits.

I have a DH and 3 kids but my KitchenAid mixer is my baby.

I use it for bread of all kinds, cakes and cupcakes, frosting , and pasta.
Only downside is once you use your pasta attachment it is impossible to eat boxed pasta after that.

You add mashed potatoes to your tiramisu?! :D
I love my Kitchenaid! I've had it for over 15 years. I use it for all of my baking, mashed potatoes, whipping cream and egg whites, shredding meat, blending sauces...
I have the ice cream attachment and use it twice a week. The spiral attachment will be my Christmas gift to myself- the kids like veggie noodles.

I've had mine for almost 25 years. It stays on my counter and is used all the time. I have 4 bowls. You'll like having extra bowls, especially for cookies at Christmas.

I have the pasta roller. I like that very much. I plan to try it when I make pierogies this year for Christmas Eve. Pierogie dough is a bear to roll. I plan to make ravioli for Christmas Day with it.

It makes great whipped mashed potatoes without you having to babysit it.

You'll also want a splash guard if it doesn't come with one. That keeps your counter and backsplash clean when you make splashier things.

Mashed sweet potatoes, no less! Gotta find a way to sneak those veggies in.... :rotfl2:

And they last forever. The one that sparked this post is probably still running!

OOOOO A zombie thread.
5 out of 10 zombies say they use their kitchenaid for mixing brain pudding.
4 out of 10 zombies say they use their kitchenaid for Brain pie.
1 zombie asked us if we'd like to be introduced to her kitchenaid. So we tossed a brand new Artisan Mixer into the group and ran away in the commotion ending the survey.

I bought the spiralizer attachment to make "zoodles" with my mixer. Otherwise it would sit and collect dust. Oh...I did make whipped cream a few times with it. Much prefer using a hand held mixer. But, the KitchenAid looks great on my counter.

Cookies, icing, cakes, homemade pretzel and pizza dough (using the hook), and my new favorite: the citrus juicer attachment. We have a Meyer lemon tree in our backyard and it makes quick work of juicing 30 lemons at a time.

DH has ordered me a pretty red mixer for an early Christmas gift. He wants me to have it for my holiday baking.

Ha ha ha! That reminds me of the time I bought my mom a smoker for Christmas. I mean, she doesn't have to invite me over for dinner, but.... :teeth: Your husband probably can't wait to reap the benefits of the mixer!
