Wednesday, January 10: We had an early breakfast at the food court before taking the monorail over to Epcot, getting there shortly after it opened at 9:00. We had a fantastic day!! It was a little chilly in the morning, but blue sky and sunshine all day and warmer in the afternoon. We did Innovations, Body Wars, Universe of Energy (awesome dinosaurs), Spaceship Earth, Test Track (it was broke down the first time we checked, went back an hour later and practically walked right on), Honey I Shrunk the Audience (neat 3-D effects!), Journey Into Your Imagination, The Living Seas, Living With the Land, and Food Rocks. We enjoyed all the "countries" in the back, especially the Mailstrom boat ride in Norway, the El Rio del Tiempo boat ride in Mexico, and we had a late 3:00 lunch at the Restaurant Akershush in Norway. I had read about this restaurant on these boards so we definitely wanted to eat there, and we weren't disappointed. We had a table-for-2 in the turret, they weren't busy at all, and at one point we were in there completely by ourselves. Wonderful food, $11.95 a person for the buffet with lots of interesting things to try. Loved almost everything, especially the caramel goat cheese!! We saw several characters along the way at a "character bus stop" including Mickey and Minnie, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, Chip & Dale, Tigger, Mufasa, and Kirk videotaped me with Eyeore.
We saw the "Tapestry of Nations" parade, very enjoyable and unique. And we saw a mime dressed as a marble statue. It was neat to see how she (or he?) interracted with people as they came up for pictures. We saw a group called "Barrage" that sang and played violins to many kinds of music, they were really great and I bought 2 of their CD's. It was their last night to play, so I was glad we got to hear them. We didn't get a good spot for "Illuminations" at 9:00, but could see and enjoy the fireworks quite well. Hopped onto the monorail, to go back to our hotel, and enjoyed a piece of carrot cake in the food court before heading to bed about midnight.
