We are a family of 5 leaving this Sunday Yeah!!!!! Can't wait!

We are staying at the Royal Pacific for the first time ever and I called and was given an upgrade from a pool view room to a King Suite for the extra room. We are going to be bringing an air mattress instead of opting for the rollaway. Please share with me any and all information you have about the King Suite at the Royal Pacific. Layout, size, is the pullout couch comfortable? Extra amenities such as robes and turndown service? Please share your imformation asap as it will be much appreciated! Also Will this room be more comfortable for a family of five than a standard room?

The room(s) is 650 square feet. The bedroom has a king, a table and 2 chairs, 2 easy chairs and one has an ottoman, a tv on the minibar/drawer unit. There is 1 bath robe.
The pull out couch is queen size and is not comfortable. There is an executive desk and easy chair and an armoire for the larger tv in the living room. The room will be close to the elevator. The bathroom is not separated with the carved wood half wall.

Thanks so much Motherfletcher, I have been reading these boards since March when I made my reservation and you seem to always be so helpful. You answered most of my questions however I was wondering if you know what the view would be like from the third floor. She said that the suite is facing the parks, we wanted something higher but said that was all they had available. Also do you know if the suite comes with daily turn down service and also is this a better choice for a family of five. Thanks so much for any and all information given.

Third floor is lobby level. If it facing the parks I'm guessing you got Tower 1. If you aren't obstructed by the hotel's valet drop off building you should be OK. My guess is your room number will be 1301. You need to request turndown.

We just got back from a stay in a king suite. This was our first trip to Universal so we don't have anything to compare it to but I'll give you my overall opinion. First of all, FOTL was awesome. Can't say enough about it. Second, RPR is beautiful. The pool is awesome. The boys (7 and 5) loved the water cannon play area. The room itself was fine. We chose it b/c we also have a 2 yr old. So, the boys shared the pull out couch and we stayed in the bedroom with the baby in a pack-n-play. We could've done a rollaway for one of the boys but they were actually fine sleeping together. I wouldn't have wanted to sleep on the pull out - it seemed very uncomfortable but the boys were fine with it. The best part was that when they woke up they just played until we were ready to get up. Overall, it was pretty small for the price - kind of a strange layout. But, it worked for us and was definitely cheaper than 2 adjoining rooms. We really didn't want to pack all 5 of us in one room so this was definitely a better option. I can't remember our room number (I'll check with my husband to see if he does). It was the floor above the lobby (4th) right next to the elevator. The view was partial resort/partial I-4. Not great. But, I'm not a person whose big into view. Maybe when the kids are older and would appreciate it.
Also, I don't know the age of your kids but my boys had a blast at the Mariner's kids club a couple nights. Can tell you more if you're interested.
In sum, I think I would go for 2 adjoining rooms to get the second bathroom and more space but if that's not feasible the king suite is not a bad choice. Now, maybe we just had bad luck and there are other king suites with a better layout.
No matter what you will love the resort. We found the room very clean and in good condition (I had read some reports about deteriorating rooms).
Any other questions, feel free to ask. I'm trying to get around to doing a trip report but this post is kind of turning into one! By the way, Motherfletcher if you're reading this - after watching Shrek 4-D 3 times (thanks to FOTL) I finally heard your name!!!

If they are telling you that you have a view of the parks you will be in either tower 1 or 2. Unfortunately even though they say those are park view rooms they only have a very minimal view of the parks. You will prob be able to see some of IOA though. The view is actually pretty nice IMO. It is of the front entrance landscaping and water. Since you are low you won't be able to see any of the parking lots beyond it so you will feel like you are in a tropical paradise. If I can't get a king suite with a pool view, I prefer this view. Your room will either be 1301 or 2300 with the latter having a slightly better view of the parks. These rooms are the first ones off the elevator so you won't have a long walk. Turndown service should be automatic when staying in a suite but you can always ask at check-in. They sometimes come as early as 5 to do it so be prepared for that. Enjoy!

The lady at check-in told me we would be in tower 1 and would have a limited view of the parks so you seem to be right on track. By the way, the lady's name was Rosie and she was very very friendly and helpful. We booked the Mastercard deal through Universal Vacations and said normally they wouldn't give Loew's benefits but they would make an exception since my husband and I are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary there. Anyway, thanks for all your help. Only 4 more days!!!!

We just had room 1500 last week. They tried to give us 1501, it didn't face the pool or parks plus it was right next to the service closet. So, try for the other side if they give you 1301, ask for 1300. You will have a nice view of the pool area and a distant view of IOA. Our room was also nice & quiet even though it was close to the elevator.
I'm surprised they even know what tower or room you are assigned at this point. I'm sure you can ask to change rooms if you are there early enough.

We never had to request turndown, they just came every night. We got a little treat at turndown each night like magnets, and shell necklaces.

Ya'll are probably right about the turndown being automatic. I just called to give them an idea of when we wanted it done. It was kind of funny that the turndown maid laid out my PBH robe instead of their RPR robe. What was even funnier was that I left a tip in an envelope with "For the Maid" wrote on it and they didn't take it. I always tip the maids after reading an article where Loew's top dog John Tisch(?) said that after trying the job for a day he thought it was the hardest job in the business with a national average of $8/hr.
My DD11 and I went Memorial Day and had a king suite for a couple of nights. We made the pullout up, crawled in and ordered a scary movie. The TV in the living room is a couple inches bigger than the one in the bedroom. We measured with the hand towel because my daughter didn't believe me. DD11 crashed and burned leaving me to watch the movie by myself. The pullout was uncomfortable for me but she never said anything but then she sleeps on the floor sometimes too. The king bed is heaven! Especially all by yourself. :cloud9:
The king suite would be better for 5 than a regular room. I would put 2 on air mattresses and sleep one on the couch as a couch.
A tip for getting ready with only one bathroom-
The fitness center opens at 6. Its free with Loew's 1st. They have great showers and all the toiletries you need except a toothbrush. Take time to check out the co-ed whirlpool and meditation room at the end of the locker rooms. The best jets are under the carved stone elephant.
Loew's 1st amenities- I love the cookies and milk but if you select the "regional surprise" it comes with a neat little shell with the RPR logo carved on it.
Another RPR tip is to take the bus back to the hotel after a day at US. The bus stop is close to the entrance (towards HRH) and RPR is their first stop where they drop you close to Tchoup Chop. Take this route once because if its raining it might be the only way to get there without walking. The bus has a/c as well. :cold:

Just wanted to add that we were in 1500 also in April. We had turndown service everynight without asking. They were very prompt and nice. I always leave my tip money right on the pillows and it has always been taken. I used to clean rooms when I was a teen/young adult and it IS a hard job. I was always grateful for any kind of a tip. When you leave the money on the pillow of an unmade bed, it is kind of obvious it is for the maid. I find if you leave it elsewhere, on the sink or table, the maids are too worried that it is not a tip and won't take it.

We loved the king suite and I'm sure will too. We never used the pull out because it was just my husband and I, but I find that kids will sleep on almost anything - at least mine will. And, MotherFletcher is right the king bed is heavenly! Enjoy!

These Disboards are awesome! I have never been so excited about a vacation in my whole life. Thanks everyone for all of the tips! I hope to do a trip report when we return. We will be there at the Royal Pacific for 5 nights and with this being our first stay, I have high expectations and hope to not be dissapointed. Thanks again and send more tips if you have them!!!

Unlike regular rooms, suites are blocked or preassigned ahead of time. That is how they know where you will be. If you get there early and prefer a different view just ask them if they can switch things around and you may be able to get a pool view. 1500,1600,1700,3400,3500,and 3600 are the best pool view king suites. The rest of the pool view suites are obstructed by trees or like 3700 is on the club level. Have a great trip!

Ryguy,Wow, it amazes me how much knowledge you have about this resort! Since I am new at these boards, may I ask you how you know so much? You have been most helpful!!!

RyGuy lives there! He has stayed in all of those suites! :cool1:
I think we all started paying more attention to the rooms when we started the "room assignments" thread.

My goodness, what in the world does he do for a living? LOL!!! It takes my family a couple of years to save for a vacation like this!

LOL It may surprise you to know that I am a college student. I have some family in Orlando and if I'm not staying with them at one of the hotels I go with some of my buddies. My on-site stays are getting more and more frequent and with that I have come to know many of the staff and managers at the hotels. They are all great and take good care of me when I'm in town. I only stay for one or two nights at a time and my rates are heavily discounted. It's the fantastic upgrades that keep me coming back. I know so much because I am very nosey and I ask lots of questions.
