I just called Loews to find out about a suite upgrade since I am now platinum. I was hoping for an upgrade to a kids suite at the HRH by booking a standard AAA room, but she said no, they only upgrade to a king suite with platinum? Regardless, there weren't any available for my stay (naturally!!). Gee, has anyone received a suite upgrade upon making a reservation?? I'm wondering if they always say there are no suites available.........

I was so disappointed, I forgot to ask what exactly a king suite is? Anyone know?

Thanks!

they are UGLY!! you didnt miss anything. they look like they were decorated in the 70's. ( and not the cool retro 70's either )

We stayed in a king suite at the HRH last summer on a platinum upgrade and are staying in a king suite at the RPH for our upcoming trip. It's funny but before I joined Loews first I was never able to book the King suites at any price. FYI, I thought the King suite at the HRH was very nice. There were only 2 of us as my DD and Her friend were in a connecting room with 2 queens.
The suite is very open and spacious but if I remember correctly only had a shower, no tub. Later moved to a deluxe king and 2 queens connecting on the club floor and we really missed the space. This is very long winded but the upgrades are out there.

Thanks for the info! Could either of you tell me what the layout is? Is it suitable for 5 people to sleep? Are there separate sleeping areas (meaning privacy for mom & dad??)

Thanks! I haven't made my reservation yet. I'll keep trying until I can get an upgrade somewhere.........

threeboysmom,

The king suite is very open like a studio apartment. Everything is in one big circular space. The suites have a king size bed and a pullout couch. I don't think you would be very comfortable with five people in the room. I would go for the kid's suite as there are two bathrooms and enough sleeping space for five.

There's definitely enuff sleeping space for five in a kid's suite ...but there aren't two bathrooms.

There's one bathroom that can be entered from either room...

My kid's suite had two bathrooms. One room with a toilet, shower, and I think a sink like the regular bathrooms have inside. The second had a toilet and sinks. The bathrooms are right next to eachother but each closes off. Very convenient.

Wow, no kidding? I've stayed in 5 different Kid Suite's ...2 of 'em on Club Level, the rest throughout the hotel ...and never had one w/2 bathrooms.

They even put us in the handicapped-access Kid Suite once.

Each had the exact same setup ...the 'main' portion of the bathroom had 2 sinks/vanity w/a glassed-in shower ...the 'smaller' portion had another sink w/a tub/shower setup and toilet.

Never seen one w/2 toilets though! But the bathroom *is* divided by a set of doors (toilet area can be closed off from the vanity area) as you mentioned, which is a great setup.

You certain there was a 2nd toilet?

dyclon,

You are absolutely correct. Only one toilet. Even though the bathrooms are right next to eachother it is still like having two since they close off and two people can shower at the same time. You know your kids' suites! What is the handicapped accessable suite like? Is it bigger? What floor is it on? I am staying at HRH Monday for the night and I'm Loews Platinum so I plan on upgrading to a kid's suite to have extra space and beds. They have kid's suites available for Monday so I am crossing my fingers for one of the two on the 7th floor. Take it easy!

The handicapped KS was basically the same as the others ...same basic size and layout, but all rooms were seperated by much wider doors, and the entry/foyer area was bigger (wide!).

Bars for the bath and shower areas, and around the toilet as well. It's been awhile since we stayed in that one ...I *think* it was on the 5th floor?

Hope you get the upgrade to Club ...seems we've lucked out more often than not, even when it was busy!

For some reason, one of the KS on Club *always* smells of disenfectant ...I think it was 7085?? First time we stayed in it, we thought it was because someone had smoked in it, so they moved us to the other KS on Club.

When we were there about 4 weeks ago, we were once again assigned that room ...and it (once again) smelled the same. We didn't even notice it after a half hour or so, though ...

Good luck!

Well, I didn't get the Kid's suite but I got a King suite upgrade at no charge. This was my first time staying in a King suite at HRH and I liked the room very much. It was room 3100 on the lobby level with a pool view. Couldn't see the pool at all though because of the palm trees. You need to be on at least the 5th floor to avoid the obstructions. The trip was short but sweet.
