King Kong scary line

Hello,
Obsessive theme park planer here. I just wanted to give anybody planning an islands of adventure park day a heads up that the line for King Kong is SCARY for younger kids. This includes very dark wait areas, forboding music, as well as an(awesome) scary animatronic and live “scareactors” grabbing towards you as you pass them in the dark. My 9 year old declared “never again!” Just because of the queue. Hahaha! I had no idea!

My kids were scared in the Kong queue and they are older than nine lol. It actually freaked me out little too (I’m a big chicken). We have noticed that the express pass entrance bypasses most of it.

Yes the ep line misses all of it
It’s boring but much shorter than the regular line
You don’t see much of the regular line

When this was discussed before, posters said only one person did the acting of scaring/startle those in regular queues

Have they increased the scare employees now ?

There were 2 live actors when we were there. Very creepy, they grab towards you as you pass and just kind of stare at you. Lots of crying babies.....and some crying grown ups too. It was fun!

At Christmas time, EP line went near regular line and we saw some pretty cool scare actors. Most jumped, some screamed, but all had a good laugh and the cameras and phones were out in force. I think I have a picture somewhere. Have to look.

Thanks for the warning. We will have express pass, as we are staying at the Hard Rock. Hopefully we will bypass most of that. My 4 year old really wants to ride, but if the line is super scary she won't go near the ride.

Grown adult here and I absolutely hate that queue. I was the one of the idiots waiting for a gap to form near the scare actor openings so I could just jump across them.

Just to clarify.. I will have Express pass as well. Express Pass for sure skips the scare actors?

I will not ride if I have to deal with people jumping out at me lol...I really dislike that and it will put me off balance for enjoying the ride.

Yes Express pass line doesn't have the scare actors still be bit scary, same music and you can see the animatronic in the distance

We were in line and I knew where the scar actor was from watching youtube vlogs. As we got towards that point I just made a general comment about little kid here who doesn't want to be scared. I didn't make it obvious or too loud but I think it was heard because after we got past that part, I heard the people behind us scream . That is why I plan because she LOVED the ride but being scared in line would've not even have her getting on the ride.

Oh my goodness! I'm glad we were in the EP line. This ride terrified my kids and they also agreed one and done!

We got stuck at the scare actor area. I mean right in front of it. The ride stopped for about 1/2 hr so the line came to a stand still. My dd and I were sitting on the floor against the wall and they still scared the crap out of us. They finally stopped the scaring after about 15 minutes because so many kids were crying. And the actors were getting annoying. Just as the line started to move and we thought we were out of the woods, walked right past another one. Thought my heart was going to stop. We had been in line for over an hour (this was before the EP's were being used) and I was so done with it. Thank goodness it turned out to be an amazing ride.

We rode it on Saturday. The ride was down for about 45 minutes. When it re-opened, there were a lot of kids in line for it. There were two families behind us and I asked if they had ridden before and warned them about the actors. We send my DH first to take the brunt of it, but no one ever jumped out. When we were all well past the area, I'm pretty sure they were back at it because we heard some yelps from adults.

I don't enjoy that type of thing. Last summer I got in the line about 10 minutes before park closing and there was no one in it, really deserted. Another couple came up behind me as I was carefully looking for all the holes in the wall as I walked along, and sure enough, someone popped up in one. I was really glad I was not completely alone at the time, I probably would have left the line and not continued.

My sister and I went on this ride for the first time in Nov 2017. It was within the first 45 mins of opening and there was nobody in front of us in the regular line. BUT, it was pitch black in that queue. I had to feel along the wall to find my way. I wished I had had a flashlight. We rode the ride, liked it and got on to ride a second time. This time the queue was still dark but we could see where we were going at least. Didn’t notice any scare actors. Has anyone else gone in where it is pitch black? I think I actually ran into a wall once.
