King Kong queue-do people jump out at you?

Sorry if this sounds dumb-I have read that the queue is interactive-cast members jumping out at you and startling you... I cannot begin to say how much I HATE sudden shocks like that,(I would be no good at Halloween at Universal). I just want to know if this is true, if so we will be giving this one a miss...

Yes they do have TM who can jump out at you.

Didn't happen every time we went through......but couple of times, I jumped out of my skin! But, yes, it does happen.

I agree that I hate to be startled. Why do they do it? Does it enhance the experience or make sense for the storyline? ugg!

It's fun for me to get scares like that, but I also love hhn, not everyone does.

Yes there is a scaractor (a tm) in there. I wasn't in love with it. But it is really just one section. I have been twice and once the tm wasn't there and the other time the tm was there.

The queue itself is creepy so it does add something too it.

If you have Express Pass, there are no TM there to jump out at you.

He was there when we rode in January. I was glad I heard someone scream before I was a victim! People were shining their phone flashlights into his hiding places. I wanted to see how far the queue was so I ducked by so he would not get me. If you know he's there it is kinda funny. He would sometimes appear and just stare at people. I was in a horror house once and we were on the way out so thought everything was done. There was a scare actor in a dark corner who tapped me on the shoulder. It was just reflex but I punched him right in the nose. I felt really bad about it and apologized several times!

He had ds and I jump out right out of our skin. We were first in line when they opened the ride in the morning. I had completely avoided any threads or articles about the ride because I like my first impression of a new attraction or ride to be all new, and therefore had no idea it was coming .So ds12 and I were leading the long line of people who had waited to be let in to the ride. It had been down at park opening for about 20 minutes so the crowd had grown.
Anyway, we got jump scared really really good.
Everyone around us got a good laugh. In fact complete strangers saw us in another part of the park in the afternoon and asked if we were feeling better now.
I agree it's not my favourite but it's a fun memory and we have a great story. If you aren't leading the pack you likely will get to see someone else get scared first .

Yes...he...does.

In our case he got a member of our party, luckily a teen (we all know they still contain a lot of rubber bones, thankfully). He lunged, she fell flat onto her butt, took a half second. It was hilarious - once we knew she was OK. She was not hurt at all, just embarrassed - very embarrassed.

I think we waited for about an hour in January for the ride and saw 3 people get spooked - it wasn't too bad tbh - definitely built up the ride and complemented the awesome theming. Definitely don't skip it because of it - it's awesome. We had our 8 year old with us who was absolutely not loving how creepy it was but when we got off the ride it ended up being one of her faves!

I've been on it twice and both times did not have a scare actor in the queue waiting in the shadows. Once it was during the soft openings and another time was relatively recently during the morning. Although, knowing that someone can be just about anywhere (as they have far too many hiding areas), still gives me anxiety as you never know if it will happen, or not.

I personally do not see the reasoning for the dark theme in the queue, or scare actors, as the ride itself isn't all that terrifying, nor do I think is trying to be that way. While it's trying to be a "thrill" ride, the ride itself isn't all that too intense as a whole. The theme in the queue as a whole is pretty dark. There were skulls in Dueling Dragons (now Dragon Challenge), but it's a whole other thing when you literally see spears going through human skeleton along with other gory imagery. Just seems too much considering how many children probably go onto that ride.
