King Cake

omg. Must have been in there dozens of times. We lived a few blocks away.

I mainly worked in the office upstairs. I lived on Edenborn for a while before moving to the other side of I-10 off Causeway.

I'm originally from NOLA, now living in South Florida. I have found king cakes in Publix and Fresh Market.

Yum. There’s a bakery called Maurice’s near where we used to live in a suburb near New Orleans, Metairie. They have the traditional French king cakes too. More like the pastry layers in Napoleons with almond flavored cream. It’s still there but larger place. I liked it better in the 1980’s and 1990’s before it got so popular.

When I lived in Metairie, I loved the flaky traditional king cakes from Maurice's! Delish!

I've never heard of Hi-Do. I will have to Google that one!

I also loved Sucre.

Hi-do is not far from us, but we still prefer Randazzo’s. But my DH is originally from the parish! Had some today!

Yeah think it was this summer, but it was pretty much all of a sudden with not much notice.

I've heard from family still at home that Bywater Bakery has good ones. This description sure makes it sound that way:

Bywater Bakery will be making eight varieties of king cake this year: carnival, chantilly, boille, cheesecake, pecan praline, raspberry truffle, azule dulce blueberry, and passionfruit pineapple. In another riff on the king cake theme, the bakery will also be selling three flavors of savory king cakes: crawfish, boudin, and spinach and artichoke.

Probably Dong Phuong. They are extremely popular.
