Does anyone know how many rooms there are that have king beds in them? I have seen the pics of the handicapped accessible rooms...are there other king rooms that are non accessible? We check in on the 28th, for our anniversary and have requested a king bed room. What else should I do to up my odds for a king? I realize they are not guaranteed...

thanks!! :goodvibes

I was solo at Pop back in July '06. I extended my stay by 4 nights and due to room availability ended up with 3 reservations. Try as I might, they could not combine the reservation. The CM I spoke with told me I would increase my chance of not having to change rooms by requesting a King room. I did so and got room 1267. Great location, non handicapped, and even though it was close to everything, it was not considered preferred.

thanks so much....

what section/bldg were you in??

So you are saying my chances of a king room are probably good at POP??

Thanks again

Calculating quickly, there are about 600 King Bed rooms at Pop Century.

Find the Groovy New Pop Century FAQ thread.

Go to page 2.

There's a building layout map and key there. Some buildings are designated "D" for disabled, some "S" for standard*.

Some of the HP rooms are Kings, some are doubles.

I have a headache, you'll have to do the actually determinations yourself.

*Note that this 'standard' designation is ENTIRELY different from the 'Standard' vs. 'Preferred' designation

Last September we had requested a king room and we did receive it. It was a handicap room though. We were in a great location in the 50's section right next to the main lobby.

thanks everyone...

and to the above poster with a headache...sorry. I think its allergy season. I have had one all day too!! Thanks for the info...

We just got back on Friday. We had a preferred room in the 60's building. I requested a King bed, close to the pool and food court and on one of the higher floors. We got everything we asked for. We were on the third floor, dead center to the Hippy Dippy pool, a king sized bed (non handicapped). It couldn't have been better. Ask for room 5367 if you can. I know you won't be disappointed!:)

But do NOT ask for that room until you're checking in, and only if you don't get a king bed. I'm serious. Find that thread - it's in the last sticky thread at the top of each page of this forum. Go to page 2. If you want/can, print out the building layout map. Each king bed room is designated with a "K"... speaking of which, I was wrong on the count - I was recalling connecting rooms*, and I apologize. There are fewer king bed rooms :guilty:
Anyway, print out the building layout so you can be an informed consumer at the check in counter.

*No, I still haven't actually gone looking for this page recently, or I'd provide more accurate information (such as the exact link :)) instead of suggesting anybody do it themselves, I'm working from memory - and we can see that's not so perfect...

Hi Disfan. We are also celebrating our anniversary with check in on the 30th. I'm so excited I can't sleep! Have requested a King and hoping for it to be granted. Did not pay for preferred though. Which anniversary is this for you? It is our 10th.
Happy planning

What are the better odds do you think as to getting a king room. To pay for a preffered location or not?

If my chances are higher for getting a king by paying the preferred rate I will.

No, paying for a Preferred location does NOT change your odds (in either direction).

Here we go. As far as I can tell (and that's a VERY important disclaimer, this is NOT official!!!!! :teeth: ) there are 150 rooms at Pop Century with King beds.

Five buildings - 1, 3 (both in the 50s), 5 (60s), 7 (80s or 90s), and 10 (70s) each have six rooms on each floor with King beds. The other five buildings each have two rooms on the first three floors with king beds.

Since one and three are both 50s, your chances are increased if you request that decade - but not requesting a specific building, decade, floor, or even view, at all, increases your chances of getting a king bed even more.

THANKS!!

P.S. I think you passed your headache on to me!! I was sick at work (school...I teach) all day!!!! :lmao:

I will just request KING and of course mention our anniversary...thanks again for the help!

When I made ressies for POP months ago I requested Preferred room & King size bed. We're also celebrating our anniversary, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get what we asked for.

We just checked out this morning. We were pleasently surprised to get a king bed - we only requested a connecting room because that was the main thing we wanted. We were room 8103 if you want to request a specific room.
