does anyone happen to know if King-bed rooms at AKL are all handicapped rooms?
we requested a King bed, but don't want to get a room w/ no bathtub and only the roll-in shower.

i was also wondering... how many King-bed rooms are there in the whole resort? and where do they seem to be located?

There are many configurations and levels of handicapped king rooms at AKL. We had a king room, 4262, and you really couldn't tell it was handicapped accessable. The CM at check-in looked at a list of handicap room 'codes' and told us that ours simply had wider entrances to the vanity and bath areas.

We also had a king room 4th floor (can't remember the room #" Maybe 4316 or something) It was a king room that was not handicap accessible. I needed to make sure becasue we had 3 little ones and needed the tub. I don't think all the king rooms are handicap.

We were in a room on the 2nd floor (cant remember the number) sunset savanna. It had a kind bed, but we aren't sure if it is technically a handicap room...what do you think?

It had 2 peek holes into the hallway
and handles by the toliet
but the shower was tub style

2216? maybe, I would have to look at our paperwork to remember the number for sure.

We were told that ALL king rooms at AKL are handicapped accessible. With ours you couldn't tell. If they hadn't told us we wouldn't have known.

We stayed in two different King bed rooms during our last stay at AKL. They were both in the Zebra trail on level 4...one was pool-view and one was savannah view (Arusha). The pool view room had a walk in shower with a little stool. The savannah view room had a tub shower. While the savannah view room felt less handicapped accessible, the pool view room's bathroom felt more roomy without the tub. Hope this helps.

Do the king rooms have bunkbeds or a daybed at AKL?

I can tell you that it would have been pretty impossible to get a wheelchair into the bathroom in our king room. I doubt that all the king rooms are handicapp accessible. I believe ours may have been a king deluxe.

i can't tell you whether or not all the King rooms are handicapped accesible, but I can explain about the different levels of handicapped rooms.
Some handicapped rooms which have doors wide enough for a wheelchair to get thru (usually 36-42 in wide door openings), raised seat toliets, grab bars in the bathroom by the toilet and shower. It might not be possible to get a wheelchair into those bathrooms. The doors might have a peephole at wheelchair height. Those rooms would be useful to someone who might have a wheelchair or ecv (scooter), but can walk or at least get into a tub. Many people who get these rooms might not know that they have a handicapped acessible room.
The other rooms are fully wheelchair accesible. In addition to wider doorways and grab bars and other features, they would have roll in showers and sinks that can be used while seated in a wheelchair.
