Preface: DH and I went to WDW in July 2006 and had a blast! So much, I was ready to schedule my trip for 2007, but it just wasn't meant to be. Now, it looks like we are WDW for September 2008, *if* they offer free dining. If not, we will probably go in December 2008 to see all the Christmas decor. We stayed at POR and had nothing but good things to say about the resort. However, this trip, we are looking at staying in a Value Resort.

My question is... can I request a King bed? At POR, we paid extra for the guaranteed King bed, because DH is 6'4"... however, I learned on that trip that we were so exhausted, it wouldn't have mattered how many beds or what the size, I don't think we moved a muscle once we went to bed. We are "you are only there to sleep" type folks, so I was thinking a value would be better, and we could spend the money on other things, like a Keys to the Kingdom Tour!

I know at a Value a King bed is only a request and that I may not get it. Also, are all King rooms at a Value resort Handicapped? I am a bath girl, so I'd rather have the two standard doubles if I am giving up my bathtub. Does anyone know? If they have Kings that ARE NOT handicapped accessible, is that what I request?

I usually request a King room when we stay at Value resorts. Sometimes we get them sometimes we don't; get just depends on how their bookings go. I know at least one of the times we had a king with regular tub feature but it has been a while.

Put in your request. If you don't ask . . . :goodvibes

we are booking PC via a AAA T/A. and we are requesting a king size room. being only 2 in our party, we hope to get it. we are also going to call PC the day before we leave. i hope this helps.

I had a non-handicapped accessible room with a king bed during a stay at POP a few years ago. I called a few days in advance and made a request. Fortunately even though I arrived at POP around 1AM, they still had a room with a king bed for me.

I didn't request a king but was offered once and took it at POP. It had the HA showers and it was horrible, IMO! We were only there one day so we made the best of it.

Some of the handicapped rooms at All Star Music have king beds with a tub in the bathroom that has grab bars on 3 sides. Love these as I am a bath person even if I do use a wheelchair

We requested King bed at the Pop once and got it. The room had a roll in shower and a fridge which was actually kind of neat. I'd say put in your requests its worth a shot.

We requested a King Size Bed in the Preferred section @ POP - we go in a few weeks so we'll have to see what we get. We're planning to check in early so that we can get to the parks the first day & that may hamper things a bit even though we're checking in on a Tuesday.

:woohoo: Under 25 days & counting down fast til we see Mickey again:woohoo:

This past May I was given a handicapped room at AS Sports. When I walked in and saw that king sized bed I was not happy. I immediately ran to look into the bathroom (I'm a bubble bath girl, too). I was very pleasantly surprised to see a very large bathroom with a tub that had grab bars on three sides. That was one of the best rooms I've ever had at WDW (preferred section, first floor, Surfs Up building, just around the corner from the main pool and two doors down from the main walkway facing a very quiet courtyard and the tennis building).

Okay, I could be wrong, the building layouts don't make it completely clear (and I'll try to talk to a Pop Manager when I'm there) but...

It appears that the All Star Movies and Sports each have 72 King rooms. All Star Music would have somewhat less because of the Family Suites (which, remember, each have a Queen bed), but I don't know how many.

It also appears that - and remember, my calculations and understanding could easily be wrong - Pop Century has 150 rooms with King beds.
