OK, THIS article doesn't say October, but I have read October 2008 in many other online articles, which makes sense, as amazon would want to have it ready for the holidays.

I am so torn between buying a new 3G iphone, or the new kindle..........but since I allready have a pefectly good iphone I think the kindle might win! And when I say "Buying" what I mean is ordering it and giving to my DH to give me for Christmas

I would be interested in one, but not until they get them back light so you can read it in the dark. Maybe that's on the new model coming out.

Old article. Amazon announced within the past week that it is not introducing a new Kindle version.

By the by: I have two Kindles and we still love them!
