I'm really sad right now......DH and I looked into a 3 or 5 day trip to Disneyland in August and while the 3 for 5 park hopper pass was a fantastic deal, DH feels that it's a better use for our "Disney money" to be put aside for a down payment on a home in the upcoming years.

This will be the first year in about 5 years that we have not gone to Disneyland together as a couple and I'm devastated.

DH says that if it means that much to me, then we should just book it and go.....and the irrational side of me wants to do just that. But the logical side of me agrees with DH that we should just save the money.

I also don't want to spend over 1K on a trip just to have DH resent the fact that I spent it on Disney.....and think the entire trip "Oh this meal could have bought us a front porch" etc......

I'm also worried because if we don't go this year, will we go next year? Will we have kids by then or want to save that money to and not be able to go for another 5 or more years? Just so many unknown factors......

Sorry I just needed to vent......

My son and I used to drive to Orlando 2 to 5 times a year. I lost my job two years ago and that was OVER. Now I wish I saved that money.

Saving money for a home is a GOOD thing, it gives you something to look forward to.

Vacations will always come, skipping a few times will not devastate you. You'll survive, WE did and try telling a kid who spent his birthday in Orlando for every year since he was 6 that he couldn't go, not just this year but probably for the next few years. Today he's 16, I'm working and we just bought a beautiful house and he said "hey, maybe now we can go back to Orlando!"

Maybe, we'll see... ;)

Don't feel bad... I won't be able to go to Disney World either... (I know you said DL...), so I feel your pain.

I'm in the midst of cancelling my trip too... so you are not alone.

I haven't been to WDW in many yrs. and probably won't be going anytime soon unless we win a trip.

My dd is going to college and we are paying off debt.

Think about all the people that are loosing their homes right now. I say, good for you guys, if you are looking to buy a home soon. I think it is wise to save for a house, you can get good deals (in most areas) right now, and in doing so you could jump start one of your lifetime investments. If you set Disney aside now, and get into that house, just think of how much better that trip will be when you are able to come home to the house you OWN. You sound like a young couple, no kids you said. You have plenty of time to make the trips to DL, they will come, with or without the kids, they will come around, trust me!

same here, but it has been 18 months already and we are not looking at going for about another two years.

Things are rough in our family business. which means both the wife's income and mine are suffering, greatly.

Im sorry. That stinks.

I can make you laugh though....every time I see your user name I see an R N - instead of an M - which, of course, makes me do a double take. ;)

LOL Cathryn your not the first person who saw an R instead of the M......:rotfl2: Dirty dirty people.....................:thumbsup2

I am a homeowner that lives 45 minutesw from Disney and had to buy cheaper annual passes this year and go less often, my own home is more important to me then Disney is or any other vacation is.I have 3 kids 2 dogs a mom and school districts to worry about, that stuff all comes first
