Hey all!

I dont mean to rant but I needed to get it off my chest to those of you can understand... Grrr I had to cancel my trip in May to Disneyland. Family is unexpectedly coming out from Texas and so I gotta be home. Their trip is already booked and paid for, where mine wasnt quiet yet so I am quite bummed. So my mum said that her, me and my son will take a trip next Sept or November to make up for the hassle.

My question is... I have to be back to work before the Xmas hours begin at my work which is the very end of November, and I want to miss the US Thanksgiving rush at DL. So my big question is.... What would you vote for? September and when in September, or November and when?

Thanks in advance :grouphug: :flower3:

Oh how sad!

Why not just push your trip back or forward by a little bit? Why wait all the way to November???

Or if you can get yourself to SEattle, there have been some incredible rates from Seattle recently and Portland is getting in on it too. Lots of competition with Jet Blue and Virgin America recently starting flights...

I guess I could push it back a bit. Maybe go at the end of Sept. It all depends. I am supposed to England at the beginning of Sept. If I plan this correctly I can go to London for 2 weeks come home for a week and then head to Cali. I just wanted to give myself that extra few weeks to save between Trips. It might be doable to do both trips close together. I will change my original post to see what would be a better solution. And yeah thanks.. I have actually been looking at the Seattle airport and they have some wicked deals.

Wow, a year of travel and visits for you!

Just in case you drive down and park, definitely check out the Portland airport. Crunch the numbers to add in the time and gas but subtract, last I checked, huge numbers b/c parking at PDX is sooooo much less expensive than at SEA.

We parked offsite at Doug Fox (used a web coupon) and it was OK, nothing compared to the $24 per day at seatac, but still, I think when I checked last PDX was around $8 per day, and no salestax.

Worth thinking about. :)

PDX is indeed 8 dollars per day for economy parking. There is a one day discount should the charge be for 7 days, 48 dollars instead of 56. This is a nice savings.

I would also like to share that if you have a handicapped tag you are able to park in the parking garage for the economy rate discount and all :). You can not pre-pay as you will need to show your ( or the tag of companion traveling with you) handicapped tag to the cashier. Having this available for my husband makes getting to and from the terminals so easy.

If you qualify for this service and are not using it-- try it next time and see how it works for you.

Patty

I have no advice, but wanted to say I'm sorry you had to postpone your trip. I hope the visit from your Texas relatives (which is where we live :goodvibes ) is at least enjoyable. At least you can reschedule for another time - keep looking forward to that trip!

Major bummer! Too bad they didn't check with you first! If you can drive down to PDX you should...we do afterall have the best airport in the nation like two years running! :) Also if you go before june 10th you can fly RT from PDX to LGB for 199!! That is so cheap! If you do go during the fall I would go the last week in Sept! GL! :)

This year we flew down on Veteran's Day and were in the park from Weds - Sun, Nov. 12-16. The Christmas decorations were up, Christmas music was going, and we only stood in one or two lines that were over ten minutes. I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you! That definately helps to hear that. ((Jots it down for later knowledge)) I will totally keep that time of year in mind. I was actually debating like the 13-22nd. Bypasses both Veterans Day (Nov 11th) and the US Thanksgiving (Nov 26th)

i would go 12 or 13th of nov for a few days. catch the mid crowds
tho i really did like the end of nov last year
I wouldnt go any time close to summer

I vote November too! The weeks BEFORE Thanksgiving are pretty light on crowds, and the decorations are well worth waiting two more months for!

So you couldn't still go in May, just before or after your family visits? Or late April, maybe? I was curious why you need to push it out to Sept or November.

As far as parking at SeaTac, you can park at ShuttlePark2 for 12.70 a day, or for $67 a week, which works out to less than $10 a day. We always use them; they're very secure and convenient. http://www.shuttlepark2.com/seatac_parking_rates.htm

So sorry to hear about having to change your plans! What a disappointment. I hope your trip, when you finally get to take it, more than makes up for it! :goodvibes

I wouldn't go in September because IASM and HM might be down for refurb to get it ready for the holiday season. I'd go in November. Sorry that you had to postpone your trip.

I thought IASW only gets decorated for the Yuletime holiday, NOT for Halloween, so I would think in Sept she'd still be safe. And if she goes at the end of Sept she'd probably catch HMH.

I still want mystic to go in May or June though. Trip to England be darned! :lmao:

You're probably right Molly. I'm probably having another old timers moment!:scared: I just know that one year a few family members went in early Oct and were bummed because they said a lot of rides the younger kids could do were down for refurb. I can't recall if it was before the 50th or something, but maybe that's why they were down?

Well I have to postpone till later in the year because of school and when I can work around finding somone to watch my son during that time. Later in the year will just work better for me.

Thanks everyone for your comments so far. Its been such a big help and ive taken lots of notes.
