kind of an odd request...

I vividly remember watching War of the Roses and Waiting to Exhale when I got divorced-my favorite line from Waiting to Exhale is "I know, I started it"-when she piled all her husbands expensive suits in the car and set it on fire. :rotfl2:

ok, maybe they are such good ones. How about Under the Tuscan Sky? Must Love Dogs is good too.

And what kind of job do you have where you can watch movies all day, and are they hiring??

"Witness for the Prosecution" -1957 directed by Billy Wilder -it is on I-tunes
I checked
This one will also make you dislike husbands

Thanks, everybody! Yeah, I realized after I posted that I might sound a little loose upstairs with those particular movie suggestions...what I meant was just that I'd like something dramatic and/or suspenseful that I have to focus on so I'm not spending time thinking, KWIM?

I really do appreciate the suggestions; I'll definitely give 'em a try!

I understand 100%. I follow this strategy often, I unfortunately understand where you're coming from.

That being said, what movies are BAD for me are - romantic comedies. They may be funny, but a sweet ending where the guy and girl overcome obstacles to be together is the LAST thing I need! I like comedies, but it has to be something totally ridiculous. Like Borat, or The Hangover. Not a "love story" comedy (which many are).

Also, I like action/adventure/thriller type movies, particularly ones with political intrigue (any Bond, the Bourne movies, etc.). Anything fast-paced: slower things allow the mind to wander a bit too much.

I would also recommend some good juicy murder mystery novels - you know, "beach reads." They are great at sucking you in, and for a few hours, you forget other stuff. That is very therapeutic for me. That is, murder mysteries and wine. ;)

Lol, I work for a major bank, researching problems with their ATM network. I don't actually sit and watch all day, but I definitely can take little breaks here and there, especially when I'm waiting for vendor updates. If nothing else, it's nice to have background noise! And theoretically, I should soon be working from home, so I can kinda do whatever I want during the day as long as my work gets done. :thumbsup2 I do so <3 my job.

...and thanks again for all of the suggestions, everybody! I should have a bunch downloaded by the time I get home.

The First Wives Club. Nothing like the original book, which was WONDERFUL, but a great movie.

forgetting sarah marshall?

I know you aren't looking for a comedy, but its a great post-breakup movie. very different than what you requested, but might still fit the bill if not now, at some point hopefully soon.

I was going to suggest this one too.

It certainly helped me not cry.
