OK, first of all, let me say that you guys ROCK!
I care so much about you all, and it's so nice to be cared about too.
The appointment went well. I'm really sore now from the Dr. moving my hip in all sorts of directions...but yes, it's bursitis.
He said my IT band is really, really tight and that causes the bursitis. He said he recommended physical therapy 3 times a week for 4 weeks and then to see him again. If I'm not feeling much better by then, then he'll try the cortisone shot. He also suggested alleve or motrin as an anti-inflammitory, since they might be easier on my stomach. He also told me to ice as much as possible during the day (20 mins on/1 hr off) and to do some stretches he showed me (some were the same as Amy's
).
I have my first PT appointment tomorrow morning. I really want to start feeling better before my trip. I'm glad it's not anything more serious and it sounds like as long as I follow the plan, and do MUCH more/better stretching before and after runs...that I won't be sidelined forever.
Again, thanks so much you guys. You lift me up and keep me going when I need it most - like the good friends you are.
Have a great weekend.
