2 adults.
We used a restaurant.com $25 certificate. (I bought it June of 2010.)
First timers. I had always wanted to try S/D restaurants. Which was my reason for buying the restaurant.com certificates.

DH enjoys sushi. Me, not that adventurous where raw fish sounds good. But I knew I could get plenty there to eat. (And did.)

We parked in the fee parking lot out front. Normally we park at the Boardwalk and walk over and back as we enjoy walking at least some after what will be a large meal for us. However, afterwards we were heading to MK to experience the new HM. So we knew plenty of walking would be done later.

Advance warning -- Long and very negative at the beginning.

By using that lot, you actually end up walking quite a bit just to get to Kimonos. Not horrible. But seemed fairly far when you think you will be parked nearby.
We just took a ticket upon entering the lot.

Once finding Kimonos, we entered approx 10 minutes after they opened. There were two tables with one person each at the table. And another guest at the bar area.

We stood and waited to be seated. And waited, and waited.... Finally decided we might as well seat ourselves. (There were 3 chefs behind a counter to our left preparing food. They did not acknowledge us either.)

Once seated, we were still invisible. We even wondered if they were open. :confused3 We figured it was past their opening time, their doors were open, there were a few other guests. One server was at the bar area. Where I guess was the way to get served. The remaining servers we saw were huddled around the register area at the end of the bar. And there they stayed. They did even look around or leave that area for a long time. They seemed to think someone else was taking care of guests I guess.

We saw a few other parties come in and someone actually acknowledged them. Although I saw another couple finally seat themselves too.

So I went back up front trying to get someone to wait on us. Alas, I still had my invisible cloak on. One of the chefs told me to seat myself. I said we already had and still no one would wait on us. He did not offer to do any more, and added nothing.

Back to our table. Sat and sat. We would have left if we had not parked in the lot ($) out front. That was the only thing that kept us there. But as we were deciding what our options were, a server FINALLY approached us with a big smile and very brief and quick apology.

We ordered ice teas. And once we each got a bottle I kicked myself. I forgot S/D restaurants served bottled ice tea at something like $4 a bottle. And the ice tea is nothing worth talking about. It's Republic of Tea, which if I cared for could be bought at a local store for probably half or less.

So hopefully next time I remember just to order water. The tea is weak enough it is nearly that anyway.

At a place called Kimonos, I was expecting good tea. Not bottled tea. And as DH mentioned the bottle was not even cold. For $4 at least it should be cold.

A menu was handed to us and the server hurried off. We figured out on our own we were suppose to mark on the menu what we wanted to order.

Here is a link to the menu:

And you just write in the quantity of any item you want on the far right column.

DH and I ordered figuring we would try each other dishes on much of it.

We ordered:
Oriental Greens (salad)
Fried Eggplant (Crab & Chicken)
Braised Scallops
Asparagus Roll (mine)
Dragon Roll (DH)

I did flag down a different server to get forks. They do not provide them, and DH was getting frustrated trying to eat salad with chopsticks. ;)

The food was VERY good and we enjoyed it all.
DH loved the Dragon Roll. This was a dish the server suggested. At least there she was helpful.
DH talked about that Dragon Roll for awhile and said he would go back to Kimonos for that alone.
The food was served perfect and fresh and hot.

We did not order dessert as we had plenty to eat already.

I had to ask the server for parking validation. We were given a blue parking ticket.

After we left the perplexing service at the Swan did not end. At the parking booth, the gate was open, no one was in the booth, and the machine was not accepting any tickets. :confused3 So we just guessed that meant if the booth is not manned, everyone can leave as they please.
DH hoped we would not get a fine or something in the mail. I do not see that happening. But will keep the darn tickets in case. :sad2:
Just more poor service on top of what we already had in the restaurant.

The restaurant.com certificates have an automatic gratuity if 18%. Believe me, the server in this case got a lot more than we would have left.
I did voice what happened on the e-mail survey from restaurant.com about our experience.
Even with the $25 off, we still spent $53 including tip and tax.
We did order more than usual because we wanted to try various items.

We will return. But maybe just eat at the bar next time. I know one thing DH will order. And I would return only with another restaurant.com certificate.
Good food worth recommending. Otherwise a frustrating meal.

Thanks for the review:) The service issue is just plain bizarre:confused3
I can relate to the invisibility thing though. Food sure sound good.

DH and I are planning on trying Kimmonos on our upcoming trip since we also purchased a Rest.com coupon. Hopefully the service will be better as we are really looking forward to trying it.

Yes it is seat yourself at Kimono's. My wife and have dined there a dozen times and never had bad service. That Dragon roll is just plain Yummy!! This is one of our favorite spots to eat every trip.

Thanks for the review, sorry for the bad service.
We went in December and had wonderful service 2 nights in a row. Our son loved it so much that he asked to eat there again. There was 2 servers helping us and keep coming to our 5yr old making sure he was good. Gave him a children chop sticks and they were amazing how much edemame and California rolls he can eat. We had amazing food there. I loved it that we can order a few rolls at a time and keep asking for more and it took only a few mins when we get the rest. When we went the place was full.
