So we are going to Disney in a few weeks. We are registered for DAS, and had two preselections set for AK on Sept 16th. One of them was for Kilimanjaro Safari, at 5pm. Both my preselections have shown for the past 2 weeks, since I registered. Well today l logged in to MDE and the KS selection was gone, and in its place was a multi experience pass, saying the ride I selected must have gone down.

All this to say or ask, does anyone know if KS is going to be out of service that day? Or had that happen to them before with preselects? I haven’t seen anything like that before. And it’s my daughters favorite thing to do at AK, so I just want to manage expectations if there’s a chance it won’t be running that day. Hoping it was just a random glitch though!

I would guess that it is an operational change. The Safari doesn't run the entire day. There is a sign near the ride that tells you when it closes each day. Last time I was in Animal Kingdom it said 5:45 closure for a park close of 8pm.

I would just try to change it to a time much earlier in the day, near open. You will get a better experience in cooler temperatures.

Maybe they updated operational hours and 5pm slot is no longer available for KS. As others said, it usually closes the line earlier than AK. Even if they now plan stopping the line at 4:45 or 5pm, the one hour window for 5pm preselection would not work.

You may be able to use the multi experience pass to ride it earlier. If KS is not an included ride, then use mep on something else and get a return time for KS when you’re ready. Have a wild trip! :)

None of the above. You can see the attraction’s hours on the website. Write down what/when for your notes that you booked. This is a known glitch with DAS pre-bookings. I’ve seen them go ME and then back to what they were.

If it still shows ME on your park day swing by a blue umbrella and find out what they’re seeing and confirm the Safari will be open at your time.

Also, you might get better information from the disabilities forum, since people on there are more familiar with DAS. Hope it works out.

Not sure why it shows the ME, but I am pretty sure I had that happen with something last spring or fall. I am also going to AK on 9/16 (see you there!) and have a DAS time for 9-10 AM that day for the safari. I just checked and mine is still showing in the app. I am sure you will be fine and it is probably the app being wacky.

Is this your first time using DAS?
If yes, please don’t be concerned - I’m a DAS person and your DD will be able to easily enjoy the safari at any time - more than once if you’d like to ride it twice. Personally, I’d pass on the 5pm safari anyway and go in the morning (the animals are more active). I had a couple DAS times that I ended up not using - it just didn’t work out.

Have a great trip :smickey:

We did an 8:30AM Safari and 5:00PM Safari last week and I would agree with going early as opposed to late. We saw far more animals in the morning than we did in the evening. Many of the habitats were empty in the evening. I will say it was raining in the evening and the hurricane was possibly going to hit overnight so not sure if some animals had been moved?

What was super cool at the later safari was the lions laying on their rocks.
