Hello all I'm new to the board. We are going to Disney World for the first time as a family. My wife is pregnant and we saw some lists of rides she can still do. My question is is the Kilimanjaro Safari safe for her? It shows up as safe and not safe on a couple of lists. Thanks for any advice. She will be bummed if she can't do it.

I would ask for a seat in the front, the back is bumpy. I was behind a woman once who was 6 months and she asked a CM if it was OK and he said he would not recommend it (but I guess they didn't want to be responsible).

There is a difference between safe and comfortable. It is safe, babies are pretty well protected and many women are very active during their pregnancies. It might not be comfortable though as it is a bumpy ride. My advice is that she should do what feels comfortable at the moment. She will know if a bump would bother her. When I was pregnant bumpy rides would not have bothered me, but it would have been tiring to walk all day. Will it be hot?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yes it will be hot. Knowing my wife she will try and push it but I want to be rational about it.

There are times I've ridden it and it's been a very smooth ride, but there have also been times I've ridden and it's been very, very bumpy and bouncy. I have no idea which version you may get, but there really can be a wide range in how rough the ride can be.

I didnt ride it when I was Pregnant .. I rode it the next time we went. I completely regretted not riding it the first time. My ride wasn't particularly bumpy. ..at least no more bumpy than my suv.

I didn't when I was pregnant. I think walking the trails where she can rest if needed and bring water/food is much safer. Or going to Animal Kingdom lodge to look at the savannah (they even have observation deck areas) is more fun. Maybe you could even take her to Boma?

Of course, I was high risk, but my mom is a clinical midwife so I had my own "dr" with me to advise! ;)

OP - I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet but, she should absolutely ask the one person who can give her the answer she needs for her - and that's her doctor. She can show him/her a youtube video of the attraction and have him/her advise her.

The reason I'm suggesting this? I have a broken neck although you can't tell it from looking at me. I am fine but the bone will always have a crack in it. I didn't ride any Disney thrill rides for five years until I finally asked my doctor about how things were. His response was, "I'm more concerned about you driving around the Atlanta traffic with no protection than I am with you riding a roller coaster that has a ton of protection." Since then, I've ridden everything at Disney World with a broken neck.

Its still pretty bumpy folks. I gotta say, I'm just not sure I would ride it if I was very visibly showing. Whatever you decide OP, did you know you can go have lunch at Sana'a (Jambo house has a lot too but I preferred Kidani Village serengeti because it was so close and intimate) at Animal Kindgom Lodge and you can watch all the giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and Tommie's and more that you want, roaming free from the comfort of a nice AC building, walk around a bit outside, and see paradise? They are soooo close! I've not personally been pregnant, but I ride the Safari just about weekly, and this seriously has me thinking I just will probably skip walking all the way to the back of the park all sweaty, bouncing and being tossed around, the intentionally but bouncey bridge, only for 20 (but a great 20 min) but this way, we could watch the animals all afternoon and the Jeep can't really stop for good photos. So should you decide not to ride Kilimanjaro that pregnant, I'd just make a lunch reservation for the Lodge and have a great meal and an unbelievable Animal experience wihout the lines, the heat, and the turbulent jeep.

Sorry people, it is NOT less bouncy than it has ever been. Next time, I'm taking my older parents to AKL and we won't fuss with the Jeep. Everyone else who doesn't have bumpy concerns, have a great safari. I'll be mixing it up some with the Lodge myself tho!

Also, it was pouring out while we were there. The animals loved how cool it was and were all running around together. We on the other hand were quite happy to be inside watching them instead of getting poured on. Between the Gluten Free Naan bread course and the view, it might just have been the best lunch ever....
