Ive never stood in line to meet a character, never had a reason to.....but Im curious about the kids who meet the characters.....do any of them ever ask why the movie is a cartoon and the character is a real person?

What kinds of silly things have your kids asked or said about meeting a character? Or maybe even things they said -to- the character?

My kids never questioned the characters about stuff like that. I think it was all ok because it's "Disney magic." ;) There were times that we met multiple friends of the same character within a couple of days of each other, which worried me, but they never batted an eye.

My son did ask Snow White what her Prince's name was, because he thought it was weird that it is never said. She told him that she calls him Gooseberry because he loves gooseberry pie and is sweet. That was good enough for him.

My daughter never thought that the characters were "real," but it wasn't a big deal.

My daughter, at age 5, met the princesses. She gave Belle a big hug and said "we are sisters you know, because I am a princess too". She rolled with it, the characters are so good at improvising to deal with whatever happens. Sadly she learned at age 7 that the characters were costumes when she felt a zipper while hugging Tigger

My kids were always star struck and didn't say a word. During our last trip, our 4 year old was so excited to meet Elsa. He talked about it the entire trip, and we had FP to meet her our very last day. When he finally got to meet her, he didn't say a word. He just smiled at her. Didn't answer any questions. Just smiled and giggled. It was funny.

We also met Lady Tremaine and the step-sisters. My little ones were scared of them, but my 11yo went up to them and they were HILARIOUS with him! The step-sisters were fawning all over him, asking if he was taken. They were great!

My son was very shy with the princes and princesses at MNSSHP in 2012 but had told us a few things he wanted to talk to Rapunzel and Flynn rider about so we mentioned them. I can't remember what specifically was said but my kid called Flynn Eugene and Rapunzel was upset that we knew his real name since it's supposed to only be known by her

When my sister and I were little, we used to think all the characters actually lived in Disneyworld. So we used to ask them about their houses in the parks lol. Then our brother came along years later, and he kind of didn't say much to them. Kind of a grumpy kid if you asked me ;)

I see a lot of parents facillitate coversation for shy kids, like telling the characterd how much Little Johnny and Sally love them, etc. I think that's a really cute and effective method for starstruck little ones.

The characters are very good at leading the conversations. My daughter was a little shy at first and she would just answer the questions that the characters asked. Towards the end of our trip she was more comfortable but the characters still seemed to lead things. They are well versed on their characters and do a great job!

DD was 4 and half on our last trip. She LOVES meeting characters. Specifically all of the princesses. She asked Merida about her brothers. They were off on a secret mission but we shouldn't have been surprised if there were no pastries left. She compared her braid with Rapunzel. Even braided her hair went to her waist at the time. With Elsa she discussed her love of shoes. Elsa said she just makes new ones if her melt or break. Anna was appropriately impressed with her Anna/Elsa flip doll. She asked Ariel where her daughter Melody was. She was off spending the day with Prince Eric. She then proceeded to tell Ariel all about the day that she was a mermaid and spent the day with Melody and the adventures they had. With Tink she discussed lost things. When we met Lady Tremaine and the step sisters she very politely introduce us ("I'm Olivia and these are my parents. This is Mom and this is Dad.") Lady Tremaine was impressed by her fine manners and told the girls they could learn a thing or two. When DD mentioned her brother they asked where he was. When told he was older (18 at the time) they all tried to convince her that one of the girls should marry her brother.

Her goal for our upcoming trip is to meet Jasmine and Aladdin.

Mine doesn't say much if at all - just comes back with a big smile

When my daughters were 6 & 4, we went to Disneyland and had the princess lunch. I realized that with face characters, it's always good to be prepared with a question or remark. So inbetween meeting each Princess, I would have my girls think up a question. They would ask things like "Where's Dopey?" or "I really like your yellow dress". Nothing complicated, but it gave them a start to the conversation.

My daughter was 4 when we went last year. She was so excited to meet Anna and Elsa, she even colored a picture to give to each of them. I think she was a bit star struck as she was a little quiet, but she did throw out her hands to show queen Elsa her ice magic. Right after meeting them we walked over to meet Princess Aurora. She asked "do you do magic like a princess?" To which my daughter replied, "no, I do magic like a QUEEN!" It was so cute. I love seeing it from the little one's perspectives!

Our kids just gave the characters big hugs and we took pictures. They always walked away with a smile on their face.

My friend's son asked Anakin Skywalker some tough questions about his betrayal of the Jedi ;)

This is somewhat off topic, but another friend was a big fan of "One Life to Live" and went to see the stars of that show play against employees of a local radio station. He said spectators were heckling the OLTL actors in context to the show's storylines ("I can't believe you cheated on..."). That must have been a blast :)

I have to admit, I can't comment on the kiddies part, but I can on my own experiences, and they have all been stellar. These are ACTORS not just models, and thank goodness! (You can tell the difference!)

Maybe now that I have an AP, I might start doing more character lines, but I haven't yet. The only one I DO is the Visa Character photo, and there have been some cute ones there. We always pose with duel 'kisses' on Mickey and Pluto (or Goofy.) One time, us girls were taking a Minnie photo op and Pluto intentionally SUPER PHOTOBOMBED IT! I went back and downloaded it later. He stole the whole shot, so funny. He posed with his paws in front like a puppy for the kiss photos, so cute! Minnie and Mickey are ALWAYS class acts.

Thankfully, that's where the cruises ROCK! (a WHOLE lot less lines for photo ops!)

DCL Magic/Dream:
Belle -taught us how to pose like princesses. This is extremely useful and we use it A LOT.
Ariel- when we told her we were mermaids on Castaway Cay (see name), without missing a beat, she asked us what color mermaids we were? Twinkie was a multi colored pink and aqua and I of course was green! (I've since added bright coral orange because the lifeguards made me where a horrible hot yellow life vest that totally clashed with my shells so I would be visible. The coral orange solved that problem the next year!)
Rapunzel- This one was special for me since I had hair past my hips. We took cute photos comparing and then she had me pinkie promise that I would continue to grow it out as long as it would grow! (If she only knew about my hideous pool hair moment this week that cost me 5 inches, who knows what she would say! *weeping* Its coming back though!)

Have also had some neat spontaneous ones. I always dress like a pirate for the cruise (but so does half the ship) so when a pirate came up to me and said "just wait here, we are going to take the ship!" and I said "are you a guest?" and he said "A guest of what? We are taking this vessel!" And I complemented him on his HUGE hat and he nodded (I had a large buccaneer hat myself) and then just like that, he swooped down on a rope and was in the show. They did indeed commandeer the DCL Dream! (Thankfully Sparrow came and took it back and of course started the fireworks...)

The first time my daughter (who was 2.5 at the time) met Daisy, the first thing she said was, "I like your shoes" haha She still talks about liking her shoes :)

My 4 yr old spent some time talking to Anakin last weekend during Star Wars weekend. This is the Anakin before he turns to the dark side. I was standing a little too far to hear everything, but I could tell he was trying to tell Anakin about Darth Vader and the storm troopers. Anakin did a good job staying confused.

My kids have never had a problem finding things to say - once DD starts talking about something she doesn't stop. One time she told Snow White that she was going to turn Grumpy into Happy (she was 3!) so they had a whole conversation with Snow White telling her how to - it was so cute!

Our last trip she was 6 and with characters such as Mickey and Donald she adapted since they don't talk, she wasn't talking and was almost playing charades with them! It was the cutest thing! She had questioned when she was little why they don't talk but she concluded because they see so many people. Imagine her surprise when Mickey talked to them last summer! The look on her face was priceless!
