Kids vs Adult Credits?

I have two girls. DD#1 is 11. DD#2(the Sequel) is 9.

DD#1 is the pickiest eater. She only likes Kraft Mac n cheese. Chicken Nuggets not Chicken fingers. It is doubtful she will eat anything off the adult menus.

DD#2 is not as picky, but.............. Will will not eat: Mac n Cheese, Chicken Nuggets or fingers, pb sandwiches not pb & j. She will eat Burgers and Pizza.

So we come to CS time. Is it possible for both girls to use the kid CS credits? Then when they are used up they share the remaining adult CS credits?

Or

Is it possible just to have the two of them switch where the 9 year old is using Adult credits to get her Burger and the 11 year old is using the kids credits to get her Mac n Cheese?

This is a common question on the DISboards. From the brochure:
ChildAndAdultCredits.JPG

Since you've indicated that DD9 has the child Dining Plan, only she can use those credits, and she can only use those credits. So your first idea isn't allowable.

However, once each meal has arrived at your table, you can share the food among those of you on the same Dining Plan as you would like. So your second idea would work.

Seems kind of silly.

Now if I get a hankering for those Mickey heads and Cheese, I will have to kidnap a little kid so that I have someone young enough with me to get them.

It's like the opposite of giving money to an adult to get you beer.

"Here kid. Here's a five. Go git me a bowl of Mickey Heads." :rolleyes1

Bicker I know you have a thing about this RULE. You wouldn't happen to have the same graphic from McDonald's stating you have to be a certain age to buy a Happy Meal do ya? :rotfl2:

Sorry, I just find it funny.

Nah, nothing really about "this" rule. I have a real problem with people putting their own desires over any rule they implicitly agree to. If folks don't like the rules, their legit option is to decline the whole offering.

The scenario I have a special affinity for is use of copyrighted material. I'm a software developer and copying any copyrighted material without permission is like taking money rightfully earned out of the pockets of someone like me. However, I understand that people make money different ways, each of which deserve the same respect I expect from people using my software. In this case, Disney makes money by charging people for the food they order, according to the terms and conditions of the plan they have offered.

All that stated rule is meant to do is prevent adults from ordering adult items using child entitlements. When your card is scanned it will come up showing 3A 1C, therefore they can't give you more than one child meal at a time. You MAY encounter a CM who is willing to let you order a childs menu item with an adult credit, but doubtful someone will give you two child meals at once.

You can order 3 adult and 1 child meal and anyone at your table can eat them though, It's not like a CM is going to walk around asking for ID of everyone with a Mickey plate. As an adult I have also never be told that I coudln't order a kids meal if that's what I wanted to eat. How would they know I don't have a child sitting at a table somewhere anyhow?

If your 11 year old wants mac and cheese she is like my son only likes the cheap Kraft kind so he would not touch the kind they had a Disney the noodles were too big. He has PDD and doesn't handle change well. If I was you I would just order a kids meal and an adult meal for them and let them eat off of both surely between the 2 meals the 11 year will like something.

Good Luck and have a great trip!

I don't think this is breaking any rules. If one daughter wants to eat a kids meal and the other daughter wants to eat an adults meal - you are still within your limits. (as stated - they aren't going to card the 11 year old for eating the kids meal) You have 3A and 1 C credits - right?

Put it this way, I have every intention of doing that with my daughter. Sometimes she likes adult foods (she is 7). So - I will be ordering things she likes and will let her share my meal. She will still get a kids meal - and I can eat a chicken strip (or three... I will admit - I like them!). So - as long as I do not go outside of our alloted 2A and 1 C meals - I can share at my family table. That is not cheating or breaking any rules.

But - that being said - you probably won't be able to get 2 kids meals at one time. It would have to be 3 adult meals and one kid meal. But, it sounds like the 9 year old can handle that.

Oh for heavens sakes order 1 kids meal and 1 adult meal and give it to anyone at the table that you want!! Who cares who eats which plate of food??? If you have 1 kid and 1 "adult" and you order 1 meal of each let the kids decide who eats what!!

To say you cannot do that is like saying if my DH ordered cheesecake for dessert and I ordered pie and when it came we decided to switch we would be forbidden!!

You legitimately paid for 1 kids meal and 1 adult meal....that is what you order and let anyone you want to in your party eat them.

I agree wholeheartedly. This is the most ridiculous debate I have seen yet.

I agree that suggesting you cannot share food between your children is a little ridiculous. There is nothing that prohibits folks on the Dining Plan from switching meals with each other once ordered.

Here's the thing.....

Why do we have to debate the dining plan at all. You sign up for the dining plan, read the fine print and follow the rules... It is between you and your higher power what happens to the food when it gets to the table.

I have to say here, I do not understand why it has to be debated at all... wouldn't it just be nice if we could all abide by the rules and just go with the flow. If you choose to opt for the dining plan and have a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children, just accept that you will get the credits that go with your family. How you eat them is your business when you get to the table...at least that is my opinion.

I couldn't have said it better myself! :thumbsup2

I have wondered the same thing. People make the dining plan wayyyyyy to hard. You order what you are entitled to and then eat it as you wish. Shoot, the last time we ate at Boma, the mom got plates of food and served her family from the table like you would at home. Would I ever eat from a buffet like that, no, but who I am to judge what she did for her family.

Hellooooooooooooo.

Original Poster here.

I think my QUESTIONS where misunderstood. I am not trying to debate anything. I'm also not trying to pull a fasty here so I'm sure my Higher Power would not be concerned.

I am merely trying to better understand how the DDP works since I have no prior experience with it.

If you reread my post you will see that I set two senarios and was asking if either was appropriate.

Biker actually answered my question. So I don't understand your response at all.:confused3 I feel as if you are chiding me for asking a question. I would abide by the rules. That's why I was asking what they where.

My DD ordered a children's meal and ordered an adult meal at a CS restaurant. At th table she ate her DD's and her DD ate Mom's. No harm no foul. I believe that the rule is to discourage adults using a child credit on an adult meal, not to prevent two kids from swapping their food at the table.

Don't blame Mackey. You've unfortunately stepped into the role of every previous person who has asked the same question. Unfortunately, a number of them -- almost surely a significant majority who asked the question -- were doing so in what became a rather transparent effort to find rationalization for doing what they wanted to do anyway.

I would abide by the rules. That's why I was asking what they where.
Here's a link to the rules:

OMG - I think our kids are clones! I literally have the exact same situation, even down to the ages of my daughters.

What I plan to do is, if dd11 wants something on the kids menu, and dd9 wants something from the adult menu, they'll just order for each other, then switch plates when the food arrives.

We did it this way last year when they were 8 & 10, and had no problems.

No rules broken, no food ordered that we're not entitled to.
