Kids use of DDP Credits without Parents

Hi folks --

Maybe a newbie question, but here goes. In a few weeks we launch the Second Annual Family Trip to Disney World (from Portland, Oregon). This will be the first time using the DDP. We chose the QSDDP. It's a six-day trip. The grandparents (who live in Florida) are joining us at Disney World for a couple days to explore the parks with us. DW ("Dear Wife"; am I using the lingo right? :love2: ) and I hit the jackpot as the grandparents have volunteered to take the kids (10 & 8) the day we are exploring Epcot. This allows DW and I to enjoy an adult Epcot experience. :cool1:

So here's my question -- with respect to the DDP, can my kids use their DDP credits on their own (using their Magicbands), without me or DW joining them?

My grandparents will obviously be with them, but the Grandparents won't be on the DDP. This issue just occurred to me. I'm already likely taking a bath on this QSDDP (Live and Learn!) and I don't want the situation further exacerbated!

Any insights greatly appreciated! Thanks (and, wow, I do love these Disney boards!)

Yes they will be able to use the credits no problem, just make sure that they know the pin number that you set.

as long as you have given them charging privileges - its not on the kids bnds unless the parent requests it at the front desk

We tried to give our 7 year olds charging privileges last trip (to track their spending money) but there is an age minimum and they were not old enough.

My comment is not DP specific, but if it requires charging privileges you may have an issue.

Thanks. Worst case, we just give the charging privileges to our 10 year old, and allow our 8 year old to lose his mind over such unfairness!

I'm not sure, but I think the DDP and charging privileges are not the same. They kids should be able to use their magic bands to use the DDP without having charging privileges attached. I've seen reports where parents let the kids "pay" for the meal with them at the table and kids used their own bands to do so. QS should be no different even without you there. They WILL need to know the PIN you give to the magic band, though, so maybe make sure grandparents know that 4-digit number.
