Kids under 3 - Need proof of age?

Our visit to Disneyland will be 2 weeks before my son turns 3, he shouldn't need a ticket, but he's tall for his age and talks kind of a lot- do I need to bring a birth certificate to prove his age? Are they really strict on that? Just don't want to be caught off guard when we get to the gates.

No you don't need proof. You may be asked how old he is, but probably not. We took DD for her third bday and arrived the day before. Since she was 2 at arrival, she was 2 the whole trip. We were never asked once to verify her age, in fact never asked anywhere how old except at character meals to ferify that she was still free. Some people like to bring a copy of the birth certificate just in case.

Thanks...I just remember seeing an episode of "Airline" - that show about South West Airlines, and a kid looked really big for his age and the mother was claiming him as a lap child, but SWA didn't believe her, and wanted to see a birth certificate, but she didn't have one, so she had to buy a ticket.

Never been to DL, but WDW many times with under 3, and never been asked for proof. My kids are all big, cant believe they didn't- I dont think I would have believed me. Never heard of anyone asking, and I dont know that I would want to carry a BC around for fear of losing it.

Airlines do require proof.

My youngest was 3 months shy of 3 and 39" when we went to WDW last year. We were never asked once. We were told by a CM that he was the best Disney age. Especially since he ate free at nearly every sit down meal.

My daughter is going this summer for her 3rd birthday and 2 out of the 4 days we will be there she is 2 and the 3rd day is her 3rd birthay, so this is a relief! We will also be going to a character the morning of her birthday and this was the only day I was hesitant on. I am glad that she will be considered 2 the whole trip!
